@Mandzukic17 There is a view based on respect and status. Leicester is loved and supported all over the world because they miraculously won the PL. Milan are CL royalty, they have the status and respect because of great teams and legends that played for them. We have a magnificent history, our only blemish is our demotion to Serie B but we've had a large number of world class players and a rich history.

Barcelona also have a rich history but their blemish is their sleazy diving whining play where here in the UK people will brand them cheats because of the Chelsea and Arsenal games. People have said Juve are old fashioned, slow and defensive but there is a respect there you just don't get with Barcelona. People fear getting them for cheating, not because they are amazing in recent times. We are an elite club even when Serie A has become weak and disappeared from European football.

@FlavioJuve

I do know the appeal, we have our own Cruyff fanbase too. Playing the right way, DreamTeam and so forth. Laudrup, Koeman, Stoichkov, Romario... Then came Capello and the dream team got 'real tired'.

It's all nice and good to add bonuses, but unless they are for breathing they are still bonuses. Taxes are even more important.

Want a recent 'trigger' to get him over here? Well, let's try that - you claim they're building the team around him, after Messi (of course) and he's been told so(supposedly) by Eric Abidal. How is then Messi going and calling him out unprofessional sounds to you? How much an endorsement would it have been for, say De Ligt, if CR7 shared similar opinions on his treatment here. Marque player and all... Maybe, 'I think facts'?

On the other hand: Since the whole fiasco started and apparently Pjanic is either exchanging benches or he is going to be a starter for Barcelona - Arthur camp went out of their way to reaffirm his commitment with Barcelona(imho another reason to snub him, since with Pjanic there he would be eating even more bench with carefree attitude), De Jong's did not. We are as rich as a club gets, just never gonna admit it. No one does. Our president is head of ECA, known as the 'Standard&Poor Club' ffs. Would we get De Jong - probably not. But the only reason we should be sniffing grass next to Arthur is there is no other humane way of offloading Pjanic without heavy losses. And if we want to win things we should strive for the best players as it send a powerful echo out there.

PS: Just to reaffirm I actually liked Arthur a lot, but there is something about his attitude (Verratti-esque) that just makes me think he won't climb the mountain. As a Juve fan I would be happy for him to come here and prove me dead wrong.

As far as I know (could be Dutch media BS) Messi has been pleased with de Jong and comments on how professional team members were are not directed to him. Any good source?

I am not in favour of Arthur, neither against him. All I have been saying is that de Jong will not be a realistic option for us, at this transfer window.

I am juve fan , but knowing Raiols he want some transfer money.

I think his every player changes clubs every few years and it goes step by step.

Ajax,Juve and then probably Real or Barca.

No hard feelings, it is just what I think.
Tako look on the link.

Totally agree with this post.
Honestly, if we want to reach an even later audience and also grow our club. It’s time to abandon serie A, a mud league.

Move ourselves to EPL. The first few years are going to be tough. We will probably be in relegation battle for the first few seasons given EPL’s quality and Khedira’s immobility. We will probably lose CR7 because he is not going to fight relegation in any point of his life.

But in the long run, it will give us a hard look at reality and push our management to grow the team competitively and ruthlessly.

By leaving Serie A, we will basically turn Serie A into a lazy Sunday Soap opera league and completely destroy all italian team’s revenue. And that is how you kill your competitors!

Messi calling Abidal and co-extending it to Barca management.
Then, I don't really follow.

Anyway, it doesn't matter much, maybe we don't share the same thought on the possibilities of approaching de Jong, but this isn't the right thread for more in-depth analysis of this, and most of all in it is pure speculation from the both of us.

De Jong almost all matched (although not in his favoured position) and is one of few players in Barcelona that don’t receive criticism. Perhaps you are not aware of the appeal (and honour) playing for Barca has on many Dutch players (due to history - Cruyff).
Even if we were to off half CR’s salary, he would make the same as he does now if you include bonuses. That’s hardly a trigger to get him here.
Add to that the fact we cannot pay your claimed 75M +10%/20% and the fact that I do believe that Barcelona is building a team more or less around de Jong, which is probably something that has been talked to him in his contract negotiations, makes this not realistic (as you mention for Mbappé).
There is only one reason that favour us over Barcelona: Matthijs de Ligt.
I don’t know much about this internal mess and the club (or City??) being broke. But, after Messi, de Jong is probably the last person they want to sell. Even if they need to raise money for new players, there are plenty they will try to sell first.
They're giving him 15mln net already? No wonder they're in financial difficulties.
