Juve back in for Marcelo?
By Football Italia staff

Juventus are reportedly plotting a summer move for Real Madrid left-back Marcelo.
Marcelo has long been linked with Juve, ever since Cristiano Ronaldo left Madrid for Turin two years ago.
Now, Marca reports the Bianconeri are ready to push through their interest in the Brazilian, given they have only one specialist left-back in Alex Sandro.
The 31-year-old has fallen behind Ferland Mendy in Madrid’s pecking order this season.
Despite that, he has played more than 500 times for Los Blancos, winning four Champions Leagues and as many Liga titles.
Marca adds Juve representatives had planned to travel to the Spanish capital for talks with Marcelo’s camp before the global coronavirus pandemic put a stop to the campaign.
It is also thought Zinedine Zidane’s side would not stand in his way if he signalled an intention to join the Old Lady.

Really hope not! Old and A.Sandro is WC so no need to replace him with someone who doesnt possess half of his defensive ability...

lol AS has been better but I don't see him as WC any longer. He had about 1.5 seasons at that level but not any longer....nothing close to peak Marcelo.

I disagree! A.Sandro IMO is the best LB in the world right now and although he isnt as good as peak Marcelo - Peak Marcelo does not exist anymore..
I think people are underestimating the importance of defending well!
Cancelo is another example - The guy can really go forward but when defending... Lets say he isnt the best one out there..
Marcelo is better than A.Sandro going forward although I think not by that much (A.Sandro is always involved in the build up from the left - isolate his contribution and you`ll see what Im talking about).
Defending wise - Lets just say that A.Sandro with one leg and a 40 degrees fever would still defend better than Marcelo (exaggerating of course)

Sauce is marca, so this article in itself means zilch.

But there's a tiny possibility. Marcelo will leave bc he isn't first choice anymore, and the club does try to appease Ronaldo to a degree. But possible only if transfer fee and salary are low enough to make sense financially and to make a punt technically given his form.

He only gets linked with us because he is Ronaldo's friend.
Yep, still quality offensive, and has good creative abilities, but isnt reliable enough anymore. defenitely would be signed mainly due to his close friendlship and telepathic understanding with ronaldo on the pitch.

Let's make an old team even older.

Sure. what the hell. Why not.

He is not that old, just 31, the hesitation should be more about his waning down overall quality in defensive quality/effort.

I agree with Marmotta on this, it's inevitable: https://www.football-italia.net/151571/marotta-player-prices-will-fall

The other thing you'll see is PL clubs preying on those abroad, as they will be less affected. You won't see them getting ripped off as much as before, at least short term.

Good thing we have a youth academy thats not worth a damn.

Yes, he's not THAT old, it's just that he seems to have declined or simply lost his drive. Maybe a change of environment could light his fire again but he'd be Dani Alves 2.0 imo, good for 2 seasons max (mostly in the big matches though) and then it would be time to move on. Depending on fee/salary/length of contract, and who his alternative is gonna be, he could turn out good.

Let's say for the sake of argument we get Marcelo. Both of our Fullbacks will be 32 years old at the start of next season, and don't play a lick of defense. Our starting CB pair, in the event that it is Bonucci and Chiellini, will be 33 and 36.

Yep. Awesome.
