I don't think we need a forward like Icardi. In our formation and personnel he would be much worse than Higuain.

We need a fast, preferably right-footed, forward. Even Martial would be a better fit. He must help Dybala for 2nd balls, CR7 with plays behind their defense. Everything else is a bonus - physique, one-on-one... If Douglas Costa was more lethal and right footed.

Another way to go is Pogba being utilized in a Seedorf role. He actually excelled in it, but in France NT you have the players for a better formation (even without Benzema).

Why bother going for an old fashioned CF like Icardi or Werner? The game has moved on and its not like we play a style of football where we create chances to be tapped in by a forward who contributes little outside the box.
Ronaldo and Dybala benefit from a guy who doiesnt need the ball at his feet but creates a high line and has someone to play off.

Icardi being a douche will help us get him for very cheaply if he wants to join us. Inter will have to get rid of him and no loan will happen that he will agree to again. I dont expect a penny over 40 and more likely we get him for closer to 35 IMO. Also Beppe doesnt sell remember!!

Yes to Icardi if we can get him for peanuts. No matter how much of a douch he is, the guy can score.

When was the last time we had a proper CF who can score? I believe Trez was the last one.

I have totally missed this Torres kid. Did he play against Atalanta? Watched both matches and can't tell was he on the pitch or not.

It's hard to know for sure. Someone will have to go back and comb through the shrapnel that Atalanta left behind to find his remains.

We don't play that style and create those chances because we have no one to play that final ball to. Chicken or egg question here. If we actually had a decent prima punta we might actually throw in a cross once in a while. We have Cuadrado and Alex Sandro who are more than capable of doing that... But now it's all way too one-dimensional, exactly because we have no prima punta there....
You can argue we don't play in such a style because we don't have a pure CF. But Higuain is more than capable to play the final ball to, as is Ronaldo if we really wanted to. Issue is we just don't play a system for someone to hang around the box and tap in chances or seem to have any desire for that. Even if you put someone like Icardi in our system it completely disrupts it as it takes away a key part of Sarri's build up because the CF is heavily involved outside the box. If we leave the CF up with no involvement it increases the reliance on Ronaldo and Dybala in the build up and takes them away from goal and more reliance on our uncreative midfield.

Signing an Icardi style striker is a prime example of signing someone based on opportunity and not because they fit the coach e.g. Emre Can. If we go for that type we also need to sign wingers/creative mids which we can't afford.

Saw extended highlights and thought he looked good. Scored 1, had 1 assist and set up 2 clear cut chances in the first leg.

Higuain is rightly a bench player for us at his current level. So that arguement doesn't hold up at all. And Ronaldo certainly isn't a typical CF...

Plus you make it sound like Icardi has a bad touch which is not at all true... He can easily play the one-two's we currently use etc.

Again; we have excellent crossers of the ball but apart from Ronnie no one to finish them. Sarri definitely needs this type of player to actually evolve the team instead of standing still.

If we wanted to play a system with a poacher we have the options available. Higuain has started plenty this season and could still play that role if we wanted. We could also play Ronaldo more as a pure 9 if we had any desire to play that way.

Sarri has shown no indication that he wants that system. Icardi in the role that any of our strikers currently play does not work. He does not contribute much outside the box, certainly not to the level of any of our 3 strikers both in terms of build up and pressing. So if you put him in instead of 1 of them you have to change the way we play. That is the point I am trying to make.

We do not have a quality true CF in our squad. So no. 'though Higuain has been very useful at times.

Sarri used Higuain in Napoli as a true CF and he even used Giroud last season. We're lacking such quality. Dybala and Ronaldo would definitely benefit from playing around another goal threat.

You still think Icardi's inter role is the only thing he can do. Take of the glasses, man. I despise the guy but he can do so much more.

We even wanted Lukaku last season because we knew we were lacking...

And let's not forget we only ditched the 4-3-3 with Higuain at centre when D. Costa got a long-term injury.

It's a puzzle for Sarri to solve but we're sorely lacking upfront. If we continue to rely only on shirt passing, we'll fall short.
