So last season our CM options were:

Khedira, Pjanic, Matuidi, Marchisio, Sturaro, Bentancur, Bernardeschi, and Asamoah (can also play there)

This season, that list is 2 shorter unless Marotta already has someone lined up.

Hmmm. Bernardeschi as a CM is unproven. We have 5 recognized CMs for 3 spots with a 3 man midfield with Khedira injury prone.

My guess is we either get Rabiot or we are looking to use 1 of our U-23 mids as the 6th mid. Bernardeschi has what it takes I guess but we have not used him there in any competitive games yet.
Most likely it is two spots, and Khedira havent been injury prone in Juve at all. 5 midfielders and maybe Berna is plenty. No reason to spend money on a CM unless it is someone who could improve the starting 11, or potentially do so in a year or two.

No more squad/utility players signings to make up numbers please.

Can replaces Marchisio in the roster

We loaned out Sturaro who was a redundant 7th choice CM

The rest are as it is

I don't see an extra midfield signing honestly

Kean replaces Marchisio on the roster which frees up Bernardeschi to play more in the midfield. But who knows. I hate going into the season without a full squad. Injuries haven’t even started and were already shuffling.

Technically yes, but I'm talking about the midfield department specifically. Can takes Marchisio's slot in the roster. The rest are the same compared to last season except that Bernardeschi might have a important role in midfield which means we're well covered.

Sure but we’re still short. We were technically short before the Marchisio exit. Spinazzola is out until who knows when, so we only have 3 wingbacks, one of them being De Sciglio who is always injured. We only have 5 mids. 6 if you count Bernardeschi, but then we’re short up front. If Bernardeschi gets injured we’re fucked in two positions.

Ideally we’d have someone else lined up for today, but I’m not holding my breath.

I'm almost sure that we've waited for some sort midfielder deal to be made before letting marchiso go, I feel like there was some sort of plea between management and marchiso that unless we find someone, you cannot go. And now that marchiso went, we must reveal the deal for someone. The realistic prospect is Rabiot, can't see anyone else within our budget right now

Edit: surely we can't sign pogba unless this is some sort 20min loan+obligation for 60?80?

Yeah. It’s either Rabiot or no one imo. PSG would still have some time to replace him as well.

We did clear up some legit money in wages between the Marchisio exit and the savings in the Bonucci deal though...

Claudio was a HomeGrown player so I'm guessing one of the youngsters will help fill the spot cuz otherwise we are full with 17 'other' players.

Maybe they'll watch the U23 side for a while and promote someone from there.

Surely someone is coming, unless Marchisio is going to another Italian team (impossible IMO). Otherwise we could let Marchisio go any time before the end of the month. Only in Italy the window closes today so let's say Monaco still has lots of time to sign him.

Some deal has been unlocked and that's why we're letting Marchisio go. Easiest bets are Rabiot and SMS (expensive loan which was rumored for Milan to happen - maybe we hijacked the deal?).

Pogba is not happening - no way :D
