Boateng is on decline. At least Bonucci has his passing game. Boateng-Hummels pair have been criticized in german media. Slow and static. Works in Bayernliga but not in Realmadridliga or World Cup.

the only possible reason could be that Juve wants cash & Chelsea maybe were reluctant to pay more for Rugani and/or not interested in Higuain...

And with Bonucci +20M Juve also gains cash so I guess Juve prefer this to swapping Caldara for Bonucci and loaning out Higuain (even if with an obligation)
