I know this is not written to me, but to me the shit descisions started in summer 2016, maybe a year before that. We made som good transfers on paper who didnt work out well, Benatia was one of them. Still remember how excited I was when we got him. Injuries and Pep ruined a lot for him.

About Draxler, no please, overrated mediocre player. :p Brandt is not my thing as well also mediocre, which the club (Bayern) ironically enough seems to think too. Would prefer Bailey from Leverkusen if we should look there.

Another problem for me is this whole "We need a german identity and core" thing. Yeah sure its fine, but only if those german players are better than their counterparts. Never do I want to get a mediocre german over another nationality just because he is german, but to Uli thats the only thing that matters - if the player is german, then fuck how good he is.

Or thats the impression he gives you as a fan.
So not much different than Juve then? :p

You guys have the advantage that youre the biggest club in a country that produces more good players than anyone in Europe bar Spain and perhaps France, might as well take advantage of that. And no, you should not prefer shit Germans to great internationals, but you can at least secure all the great domestic talent instead of letting them go abroad, while getting guys like Bernat for example. It shouldnt be that much of a problem considering the financial power and apeal...

The biggest problem for me was always replacing Robbery properly, Lahm and Alaba (who declined for some reason, probably injuries) as well. You waited too long to do these key moves, and now you have to do it when other areas need to be rejuvenated as well. The other thing is, Pep was a mistake, but that you realize already i think

True. The club simply waited too long getting proper replacements for these two, thinking everything would be fine, resting on the laurels way too long.

At least we got Coman who have been really good under Jupp like mentioned before, hopefully he can continue his development under Kovac. Gnabry will join in the summer, but I have no idea if he got what it takes to be a Bayern player for the future.

My biggest issue with all this is they think the likes of Brandt level players will cut it. We need way better players if we look for ideal Robbery replacements. Goretzka looks promising, there are rumors we are in for Martial as well which would be good.

My issue is not Coman, i have no doubt he will be one of the best wingers when hes 25-26, my issue is that they skipped a generation in between, which would make the transition from declined Robbery to not ready yet Coman and Gnarby smoother. Basically 2 wc wingers of Costas age, that should have joined 2-3 years ago

Another promising Porto full back.

- - - Updated - - -

Because he's the sort of allround midfielder we are always interested in. I think he'd do well here. Not the world class player I want to come here, but very close to the starting line up if not in it. He'll be 24 in May, so we can improve his tactical awareness and mould him to our style as well.
We have mandragora and bentancur. must more potential and cost nothing.

Did you just turn 30 or something? You seem obsessed with this.

Fwiw I think the vast majority of players reach their physical peaks between 22-26. People claim Ronaldo is a truly exceptional physical specimen today. And that might be true. But 33 year old Ronaldo ain't got nothing on 24 year old Ronaldo. I'd take the latter any day.
I'm just commenting from what I've seen specifically with Cuadrado & Giovinco. I'm just saying that its worth being cautious with players who play wing positions or rely heavily on using their pace. Obviously, it isn't the case with all players.

There are obviously exceptions - Ronaldo trains harder than most players in the world, plus he is a top 2 player in the world. There are several examples of players being good into their 30s obviously, but it depends on the player.
If I'm buying a 27 year old player whose game is highly reliant on speed for $100MM, well I think that could be risky.

If you're buying a player with other characteristics, that doesn't apply - Totti for example was a beast at 30.

Exceptions: Pirlo, Totti, Del Piero, Ronaldo, Inzaghi, Iniesta, Xavi, De Rossi, Yaya Toure, Klose, Luca Toni....obviously there are tons of examples, and actually I believe players like Higuain will stay effective into their early 30s.

Examples: Sturridge, Kaka, Michael Owen, Lavezzi, Camoranesi, Zambrotta....those guys were arguably useless by 32.

Obviously, you just have to assess on a player by player basis - and if you're spending big, it's something worth considering for sure.

Cuadrado probably has 1-2 years left in him.

What do you guys think of Philipp Max?
https://www.whoscored.com/Players/142466/Show/Philipp-Max

10 assists as DL in Bunde. Surely after Asa and probably Sandro out, we will go left backs? Jose Gaya my other option, Debuchy could be interesting also

You guys have targets for DR? I am not relying on De Sciglio as starter, he can be sub/rotation, we need strong starter

Porto are always an option with Telles and Pereira, but fuck they will splash for 40mils each haha
