Report: Juventus director 'bewitched’ by Sporting CP star | Calciomercato.com

According to various reports in Portugal, Juventus are interested in luring Sporting CP winger Marcos Acuña to Turin during this summer’s transfer window.

Bianconeri sporting director Fabio Paratici is said to be 'bewitched’ by the 26-year-old Argentina international, who joined the Lisbon giants from Racing Club last June.

However, he will not come cheaply for Juve given the fact his contract contains a €60 million release clause. Needless to say, Paratici and CEO Beppe Marotta deem this figure to be excessive and have no intention of paying such a large sum of money for someone who is yet to feature in any of Europe’s top five leagues.

The Zapala native has been one of Jorge Jesus’ standout players this season, featuring regularly on the left wing within the veteran Portuguese coach’s preferred 4-2-3-1 formation. He has also been deployed at left-back several times, showing how versatile a squad member he is.

Bewitched lol

Don't get why Verratti is being compared with Pjanic. Pjanic is a regista now, Verratti plays Modric role.

He won't come, but he'd replace Khedira. Need someone taller. 0 chance of us being interested in Verratti.

Verratti is a gun no doubt...but I don’t see him wanting juve. He has Real or Barca written all over him.

Will be a hard find considering verratti SMS and the likes will cost a bomb and if one was to join it would mean the end of Sandro or dybala.

We all want verratti or SMS but likely Cristante or Pellegrini will come in with Can on a free.

Report: Juve like Verratti, but… | Football Italia

Juventus are reportedly keen on signing Marco Verratti but have been put off by the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder’s price.

According to Calciomercato.com, Verratti ‘is and will always remain a favourite’ in the eyes of Juve’s management, while the player has ‘always been a fan’ of the Bianconeri.

However, the website warns the Old Lady are not prepared ‘to make an excessive investment’ for the Italian at this stage, with Miralem Pjanic having cemented their deep-lying role in central midfield.

Verratti was heavily linked with Barcelona last summer but ultimately stayed after PSG signed Neymar, yet his performances this season have come under scrutiny.

Furthermore, talks have yet to resume over a new contract worth €12m a season, although that is likely to change soon, given Mino Raiola recently became the 25-year-old’s agent.

I have awoken from my chemically induced slumber.

What is Acuna generally like as a player? Someone worth 60 million? I never really see Sporting play so I've no idea. Any Portuguese here with insight into the league?

Any transfer campaign involving SMS coming to Juventus will be a success so long as we don't lose Dybala IMO. Obviously its better if we don't lose Sandro as well but I would happily trade Sandro for SMS plus cash. SMS could be as influential as Zidane or Davids for the club.

Height is mostly irrelevant for a midfielder.

Xavi, Scholes, Makelele were all manlets.

Besides vieira and pogba i dont recall juve ever having tall midfielders in the past 20 years. In saying that if it is a requirement in allegris tactics then so be it when need height. But i highly doubt that.

You're a bunch of utter plebs :disagree:

Verratti >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> SMS
This is a ridiculous comparison
Its like saying C.Ronaldo>Pjanic - While we probably all agree C.Ronaldo is one of the best in his generation its a bad comparison as they are two different players...

Verratti could be compared to Pjanic but to compare him to SMS is like comparing apples to oranges...

If we keep the same team for next season and we need to pick one between the two I`d definitely go for SMS as he is more what we need - Physicality+defensive and offensive...
If we need to find a replacement for Pjanic then Verratti is definitely the guy we should be after...

Anyway the chances of Verratti leaving PSG for Juve are non existent especially with Raiola Mr. Greedy his agent..
