No, i meant contenders, i ve always thought we can go as far as facing Ronaldo and Messi.
And our journeys to the final were because we overperformed and are thirsty for that cup.
Now we got an old difference maker, but our defense is weaker without Buffon and starter Barzagli.
So overall i rate us more or less the same.
Godin would ciment the defense and put us in a much stronger position. Because we would be as good as before in the back and even better upfront.
But again lies the midfield issue, esp a player with some creative and offensive capabilities. Adding such a player on the top of Godin would give us the edge over most of the teams.
I don't know if we have the budget to complete the work this year, but next year we will be there!

2015 We deserved to be in the final and the final wasnt a one sided affair despite playing Barca in probably their best year ever... - Contenders we were not by default as we were more of outsiders in this one but I wouldnt say we over performed rather than people (including us) were unaware of our ability
2016 We were undeservedly eliminated due to a referee error (Morata scored a valid goal to make it 3-0 which would have finished off Bayern) - Contenders we were along with Bayern Real Barcelona and Atletico (even if they were more of an outsiders than real contenders)
2017 We were cruising to the final with only Real (the favorite) beating us in the final in which many didnt know who is the real favorite before the game started... - Contenders - Sure, favorite - nope
2018 We lost some important figures like D.Alves but we did get much better offensively - It was hard to say contenders or not as taking previous years you could suspect we were contenders but our defensive display made it difficult...
We played Tottenham in which we barely pushed through and vs Real Madrid we lost 3-0 in Turin only to lose 4-3 on aggregate (winning in probably the toughest stadium in Europe) with a controversial decision to eliminate us..
I personally think Real came to this game thinking they are already in the Semis and this is why all of this happened...
Were we considered as contenders? I guess we were but we didnt show it on the field..
2019 - Replacing Higuain with C.Ronaldo immediately makes us contenders and signing a great CM will make us serious contenders
Now it goes like this IMO:
1. Signing a CM that is suited for our needs (SMS Pogba) -> Serious contenders
2. Signing option 1 and selling A.Sandro to get Marcelo -> Probably favorites
3. Signing the previous options+Godin as a starter instead of Benatia -> Heavy favorites - Honestly I`ll even be surprised if we dont win it..

Expect option 1 (not sure if we get Pogba SMS or someone else but I do see us getting a reinforcement in midfield)

A Pogba/A Sandro swap has legs. Mourinho is said to admire the fellow Portuguese and has REAL issues with Pogba.

If this €60m buyback clause is genuine, it is a no brainer to negotiate with the MU board.

I suppose it is his motivation to wait until SMS grows into his valuation? Not the safest play. Honestly IMO teams like Lazio should negotiation future sell-on clauses and sacrifice on the fee.

Ex: SMS for a base fee of 40M payable over 4 years + the greater of: 35M payable in 5 years time or 60% of a future sale payable when it happens. With 35M payable no matter what in 5 years.

Ie: Juve pays 10M per year for 4 years, pays 35M in year 5. In year 7, they sell him for 150M, and owe Lazio 90M, but since they have already paid 35M, they pay 55M.
Year 1-4: 10M per year
Year 5: 35M
Year 7: 55M

130M total, but really worth less due to time value of money 104M.
If he isn't sold, or sold for little: they'd earn closer to 75M or 64M (discounted, ie: if paid today).

Guys lets be real for the moment. Ronaldo was a chance once in a life thats why we did all to sign him. But this wont change in anyway Juventus way of doing transfers. Right now we will try to minimize the costs with sells. The only buy I can see is if Alex Sandro leaves, but it wont be Marcelo - he would cost more than 60m probably.

I expect we will get:
Madragora - 20m
Higuain - 55m
Favilli - maybe 10m or loan
Kean - 20m
Magnani and Rogerio - loans
Sturaro - 15m
Pjaca 20m
Audero - 5m
Cerri 1m for loan

Which means we get around 146m.
now the spending is:

So we are still 80m in red, seems like Rugani sale is inevitable. With 40m from his sales we are 40m and this is normal Juve mercato.

I read we have 'support' from Exor for Ronaldo deal, so IMO our next target will depend on how big that 'support' is. The only source I've read is Exor will help us pay Ronaldo's wages, and if that's true, we can make another big buy after sales (the most important sale here is Higuain). I will try to make a quick caculate later.

we are now recycling these obvious (from fans perspective haha) deals since July 10th: Sell all the young but sub-par guys who barely or never played for juve, sell unwanted guys like Sturaro+Khedira and sell guys who would go for good money Rugani+Higuain.


But as history tells us, only 50% of the plan will go through unfortunately.

from what ive googled, Marcelos salary at Madrid is around the same we offered Alex Sandro apparently (which he rejected for some reason? fucks sake, EPL is a mad house), around 5-6M yearly net. now if we are selling Alex to England, that should bring a hefty fee. enough to cover Marcelo? i dont know, but id assume yes. we, Bayern and Madird are gentlemen clubs after all, they wont force Marcelo to stay if he wants to go.

i dont believe we will get Pogba, but we need another mid. still think Golovin is our best shot, but by all means, try and get SMS if we can. lets say he gets 5M a year net salary (same as Emre Can lol). Khedira (4M) leaves, maybe Sturaro (1.5M) and Marchisio (3M) as well. and lets say we can cover his transfer fee with the sale of these kids (he should not cost more than 100M at this point. if yes, we cant get him imo).

if its Pogba/SMS we target, its gonna be close to impossible imo, all things considered (fees, wages, annual costs etc), but we can pull it off somehow. but the problem for me is, who are the alternatives? Golovin? do we even want him? seems to be a perfect fit to me, but looks like we dont even try. Rabiot? would be nice, id take him. Kovacic? 3 Madrid players at once? doubt. Brozovic? inda. Rakitic? id take him, but looked past it at Barcelona before the WC. Pellegrini? Praet? meh, but could turn out good in the long run. Strootman? i have no idea.

Growing in valuation is almost an impossible risk for Lotito to take, unless he spends big in Lazio and bets against the league development in general. Both against the odds at best now - he never spends and the league just got injected with the CR7 doping, flipside being Lotito is an opportunistic lad.

If he plays the SMS game, or the numbers game - we will get him. If he decides to play football and starts considering the Lazio picture(with Roma pulling like a locomotive and his support waning) SMS would stay put, unless the 100+M are deposited when and how he needs them imo.
