Who fucking cares about "national identity" if it undermines the team's strength ffs?! If you want to compete globally, you need to get exciting young players the whole world can identify with. We had guys like Zidane, Davids, Vidal, Nedved, Trez, Platini, and the list goes on. Packing your roster with Italians, mostly mediocre ones, is a recipe for disaster both off and on the pitch.
