we started off with a loan with option to buy, then as soon as other clubs got serious we got desperate and offered the same as we originally proposed, the stupid thing was the other clubs were offering more and we weren't prepared to increase that offer
And Sampdoria agreed to those terms originally. So now, because he passed that physical he is suddenly worth 8 million more?

And we didn't start off with a loan with option to buy.

We started off with a deal of 30.5 million, which Sampdoria accepted. It was ONLY after the issues with the physical, did we try for a loan with option. Either way, we weren't going to increase the offer of 30.5 million

Let's say we would have signed him. Where would he fit at the moment? Considering we have players like Douglas Costa and Bernardeschi who barely featured thus far, also Pjaca who hopefully at some point will be able to grab a coffee without tearing a muscle.

I really want Keita but how will we keep all those attacking players happy?

I have also accepted the fact that Strootman is the best option but does that mean we are heading for a 4-3-3? I don't mind that but some deals appear strange if we do.

Also Howedes is a great deal but I won't believe it until he signs.

We'd have to trim the squad, perhaps with loans for players like Kean and Pjaca, and ship out players like asamoah, sturaro, and cuadrado

What I meant was we offered the loan with option to buy after the failed medical

All those options might be what we need. Have some competition between the players and at the same time figure out what is the most dynamic attacking combo.

Well we had the chance to sign 3 of the biggest talents in the league for less than 100mil in total. We ended up with one of them ( unless we sign keita ). I just hoped this year we would have done what Bayern do, they would have signed them all...

Unlike other clubs behind us who need them now, we should've snapped them up and loaned them back to parent club for 1/2 seasons. They get 30M and keep the player for more than enough time to phase them out, and we get the best talents in the league. But we're cheap as fuck.

Well, why would we take the risk of an outright purchase if there could have been something wrong?

Are you saying that we should have purchased him outright even with the problematic physical?
If the medical reports state that his condition was not life or career threatening and all he needed was 20 days rest then why not? Roma and inter don't seem to think the issue is major neither
