remember Jan Mulder calling Juve: 'that little team' after witsel choose noodlemoney :D
yeah.

One guy i particulary dislike is De Bilde, who's facial expression shows the utmost disgust when talking about italian football

Its insane how people like him, Boskamp and Degryse who have played/coached for so long with succes, are so incredibly ignorant and short sighted when it comes to italian football.

No, we can't.

Or we can, but we're never going to do it cause we've never done it really. Look at our big buys, they all came after we sold big. Latest example: Higuain.

You're also forgetting tough competition. Sure, we're A LOT more competitive now cause we're reaching finals, but it's never going to be easy signing players ahead of City, PSG, Chelsea and others.

Exactly.
Every year is different though. As a club we are growing, both financially and in reputation. We could've used Pogba's money to balance the books, but Marotta decided to splash on a player he thought would improve our team. We'll definitely be in the market for some of these names if the management decides they are worth the money. Financially I think this year will be our best yet and we'll act in the transfer market as such. We won't get into a bidding war, that I agree with you.

I disagree. First of all Degryse has a massive boner for Juventus for some reason. I never expected it, but it is true. Also, while many mistake Juventus for a defensive team, everyone is also in agreement we're pretty damn good.

If Juventus come, Tielemans would not ignore them.
Degryse has developped that indeed, but is still very ignorant.

they all trashed us for years and only now that we absolutely trashed barcelona and gave monaco a whooping, they are comming around cause we are scoring those goals.

Except Degryse, they are all massively rooting openly against Juventus.

We can, but we won't do it.
You don't know that. That's like me saying: We can't afford it. And you can't really prove me wrong.

We've got some fairly old players in the club, I think we should have that in mind. I don't want us to repeat the mistake that Milan did when they won the CL. However, so far we're doing brilliant while keeping tabs on all promising young talents, at least in Italy.

Sanchez will go for something like 50 mln max imo and we surely can offord it. And Arsenal will try to ship Alexis somewhere outside PL, which basically mean he is gonna join PSG, BM or us. He knows Italy, Beppe wanted him for a while and we are in the CL final.
We won't go for him though.
Arsenal will accept the highest bid, I doubt they'd refuse a huge PL offer. It's always about the money and we've seen bigger stars move to rival clubs.

Wow.

That opinion is so wrong I can't even..

Tielemans on the same level as Gagliardini and Mandragora...? Wow. I don't think you're going to find many pundits and scouts who agree with you.

Only time will tell I guess. Maybe all of Europe got it wrong.
WHat happened to tielemans performance levels tho. Maybe needs to leave

But that's my point. I don't think we'd ever considering buying Pipita had it not been for Pogba's money.

I do agree that our financial situation is improving, I just don't expect us to break the bank for one player, though, not unless we sell. We'll keep growing bigger each year that's for sure, as I don't think there's any club at the moment that's making as many successful moves as we do.

What pains me the most is that we are accused of defensive football. We are an organized team that is true, but we also play beautiful football. Just look at our first goal against Monaco or Dybala's goals against Barcelona.

As long as we win I don't really mind what they say though.

He definitely has to leave this summer, but I'm sure he will. And if we aren't able to get Verratti, I'd love for Tielemans to join us.

Well, yeah. Do we have a capability to spend 50 + salary mln this transfer window without selling big? I think we can, not even in doubt. Will we or should we do it? I don't think so.

Possible, but it's more likely that Arsene will stay and he doesn't want RvP all over again. At least thats what I heard from Arsenal fans. And, tbh, I don't see a suiting team for Alexis in EPL, at least unless Aguerro moves to Spain, City has a lot of more pressing issues (fullbacks, gk, at least one CM).

For other posters who watch Atalanta, is anyone else excited at the prospect of bringing back Spinazzola?

He would be such a useful player for us. He is made for the wing role in a bank of 4 for both of our current formations. His ability to play on both sides would be awesome. And all that for free.
I watched Atalanta few times and i liked him a lot. Stands out as maybe their 3rd best player in all the games i watched them, behind Gomez and Caldara. Clear upgrade over Asa and Licht and useful rotation upfront too. Or maybe im biased because hes ours already

That sounds fucking horrible tbh
Give it time, by May 2018 it would be another brilliant mercato :p

Of course we weren't in a financial position to both keep Pogba and buy Higuain. We don't have to break the bank for someone like Sanchez though, if his value is around 50-60m. We did spend that much money on Pjanic+Pjaca. I expect us to make a ~50m splurge for a forward player and a good addition to the midfield along with the usual freebee from somewhere. Then a host of Italian players for future roulette. Marotta/Paratici is all about making value for money acquisitions. We didn't mind splashing on Dybala, yet were hesitant to paying a premium for the likes of Draxler or the other guy from Hellas everyone wanted to buy for 30m, whose name I can't remember for some damn reason. A few years ago we didn't want to pay top money for Van Persie because he was on the last year of his contract, yet we paid a premium to beat other signatures for Alex Sandro. Basically all I'm saying is that things change and Marotta/Paratici will find some way to surprise us, like always :D

What I'm weirdly intrigued to see is if we'll stick by the 'he wanted to be sold so we let him go' argument this season. I don't see anyone at the club currently who'd want to be sold, but there are a few players in high demand who'll attract quite a bid from the money machines. Will we cave in or stick by what we have been doing.

Do you believe that Tielemans can come here next season and give the squad a jump in quality?

If not, then what is the point? What is this mystical level that he operates in above all others?

I do think we can spend 50-60mln. However, I expect us to buy 5-6 players in the summer and not just one, which changes everything. :D I do agree with what you say, though. Can't wait to see our tranfers moves. And I can't wait us to... win... :snoop:

Iturbe

Oh man I remember people here losing their shit when we lost a potential "new Messi" to Roma due to Beppe not budging on his valuation.
