The extra funds would be better used on getting a quality CM imo.

We have Rugani - who imo is better than Manolas - and 3 other quality CBs. Waste of money and would reduce Rugani's playing time.
Manolas was really good a couple seasons ago, but he regressed a bit last year. Looked like he started to not give a shit through the mid-latter part of last season at Roma, lacked focus, made quite a few lazy mistakes. When focussed and on-point he's a pretty damn good defender. His athleticism and ability to recover position is very impressive.

He'd make a great partner for Rugani a couple years from now. Just not sure we should be spending that kind of money on a CB. If we were able to sign someone like SMS or Matic + Cancelo + Manolas, without selling a starter, I'd be all for it. Our team would be beastly with a mercato of:

IN: Costa; Bernadeschi; SMS/Matic; Betancur; Cancelo; De Sciglio; Manolas

OUT: Alves; Bonucci; Lemina; Rincon

To me this shows more that the management doesnt rate Benatia. That guy started when we got smashed by Genoa last season. And now he started aganst Barca and got smashed by Neymar. I dont trust Benatia either. Rugani is still 22. in 2 years time, he will be 24, then, in 2020 he might be starting regularly with Caldara. With Chiellini backup, Barzagli writing memories and Benatia going full time ramadan or smth.
Well we did exercise the option to buy him.

Well not a long history, sorry, but he did have a couple separate injuries last year and was out for several months. Even if Raguno isn't injury prone, the point still is that we still lack that CB who we could always rely on literally every game.
He missed 1 month at the start of the season, and 1 month at the end. 2 months total, not several months. Both minor injuries. The very first injuries of his professional career.

Hardly injury prone.

Agreed

We also bought Cuadrado who we now selling to Milan or Roma...

I really dont buy into those options, no pun intended.
Cuadrado was an important player for us last season, and has good resale value.

Anyway, I hope Rugani gets the trust he deserves this season.

It's only a rumour for now. And if it happens, I would think it's for a profit. Otherwise, signing him would not have made sense
Marotta has a habit buying his loans over the years. But the thing is, Cuadrado is somewhat rated in Italy. We have no resale value selling him abroad. So he must be used to get Manolas.

Matuidi, Cancelo and one CB and let's call it a summer mercato.
But FW?ST?

Extra funds can be used better, but no Rugani isn't better, Manolas is in fact better right now. Is disservice to Rugani for us to overrate him too quickly.

Juventus have approached Schalke 04 to ask after Germany international Leon Goretzka, according to Italian reports.

Sports reporter Giovanni Albanese, who works for Il Fatto Quotidiano newspaper and Calciomercato.it, claims that important developments are expected over the next few days.

The 22-year-old already has nine senior caps for his country, in which he scored three goals.

His contract is due to expire in June 2018 and this could give Juve the edge in negotiations.

Schalke bought Goretzka from VfL Bochum in 2013 for €3.25m (£2.9m) and the current price-tag is over €25m (£22.3m).

Last season he contributed eight goals and six assists in 41 competitive games for Schalke.

Milan have also been linked with Goretzka, who plays primarily as a central midfielder.
