No dude, there are other ways to compensate for what Mandžukić brings. I love him, but if we manage to get Alexis he is surplus, he would not be ok with the bench like he wasn't this year. And Alexis >>> Mandžukić.
Bring in Tolisso and he can give you everything Mario does and play trident upfront.
And Alexis has a terific workrate too + much better on the ball than Mario.

Debating over 'Sanchez or Mnadzukic' doesn't make sense - we simply need both it's as simple as that. Mandzukic is too good and too useful to sell and Sanchez is an opportunity we need to seize. Picking between one or the other doesn't make sense because as things stand we're quite thin to play 4231 week in week out. We simply need both.

I understand your concern, but it isn't impossible to deploy a 4-2-3-1 without Mandzukic. Honestly, who among us thought we'd be deploying a 4-2-3-1 formation a couple of months back? The main issue would be having a backup CF for Higuain, if Mandzukic opts to go elsewhere in an attempt to get regular game time.

I agree about not selling Mandzukic, and that Sanchez should arrive irrespective of that. However, we are assuming another hypothetical scenario, all possible scenarios if you will.
A 4-2-3-1 with Pjanic and Tolisso supporting a Cuadrado, Dybala, Sanchez trident, and Higuain as a lone striker is not soft dude.

Think 4-3-3 (4-3-1-2 or 4-3-2-1 too) should be the formations we're moving towards. All previous CL winners have used that and almost 90% of the other successful teams like PSG use it too. Pjaca, Cuadrado, Orsolini, Kean and possibly Sanchez and Berardi make it work from the flanks. Won't be needing that extra man Mandzu as we have another hardworking body in midfield, possibly Tolisso, to cover for his miles. I love how the 4-2-3-1 works but I'm a bit afraid it might get found out at some point in Europe against solid attacking teams.
