What makes SMS or Tolisso a sure thing?

They are already very good and they can only get better. Tolisso is an engine, would be great addition to our team. Sergej is a very good player. Watched him way before he joined Lazio. He has improved a lot and he had a good season. And he's only 22. At that age, N'Zonzi moved to Stoke for 3m. I don't want us to miss out on him. I'd pick any of them and Fabinho over N'Zonzi.

FFP is a myth though, it's more likely to stop half decent clubs from improving than it is to seriously cap the mega rich. I'm pretty sure in a capitalist society you can't ban people from using their own money on football players because reasons. Didn't PSG squash FFP recently?

No doubt Bayern, Madrid, Barca, Juve have more appeal than the rest in terms of current 'top' clubs. Then you have United and both Milan teams too with equal prestige just lacking the league table positions. The problem is, players can go to these oil clubs, get paid more AND compete for trophies. It's not a case of money or ambition. In the case of Chelsea for example it's money and enough ambition.

PSGs problem is basically a worse version of our own problem. Their league is just redundant on the grand scale. If they were in the Prem, with the exact same owners and team from top to bottom they could easily attract the best players.

Top players generally don't care for history. Or at least, it's a distant 3rd to Money and current level.

They only big up the history of a club on their signing day.

Money or ambition can fluctuate on which is the prime factor for a player. History does not come into play.
I agree about the history part you said. Players dont really value it/think about it when they chose a club at least not these days. They care about money mostly sometimes ambitions

Dunno why you people fancy Tolisso so much. Aside from saying "he's good, has potential, is an engine and what not", did you actually watch his games?

French league stats: 8 goals, 4 assists. More than half of his shouts are off target.

Europa League: 2 goals, 1 assist. And god knows they met a few crappy teams.

Also, remember that Tolisso played with his peers at Lyon that he knows for many years now. He did his junior classes there.

No one knows what he can achieve in a very different environment with players that he doesn't know.

I watched 3-4 Lyon games since we were linked with him. Have a positive opinion on the guy and I think he'd do well here. Mostly because Vidal nailed it here and i'd love player of similar characterics in our team. But, I would probably take Fabinho over him.

Still more a bet than anything.

His stats are not impressive, and he didn't show his best when big games are around. I think Juve actually wants players that can make a difference against big rivals, am I wrong? So far, don't expect that with Tolisso.

If the dude can't show up on a regular basis against Nice, Monaco or PSG, and go in hiding when he meets Ajax, all that while playing with lots of friends that he knows since his teens, nothing proves that he will be able to step up.

Comparing him to Vidal "right now" is more an insult towards Vidal than anything else.

A Vidal type of player is someone who scores 20 goals, covers the ground of 2 midfielders, and takes the ball from the opponent whenever he wants.

Tolisso is just a B2B midfielder.

A lot of people probably said the same thing about Vidal when he was at Leverkusen. We made a beast. Maybe we can do it again.
