If Juve are going to go all in on players for the CL next season, then it has to be for players who still have at the very least, 4-5 prime years left in them. We can't just make large signings for a last hurrah for Gigi to get that trophy next year. These signings have to make an immediate and long term impact.

Yeah, we're missing out on a world class player we already have cause he's out of position.
I was specific, i said Barcelona didnt win 2015 CL based on youth development. Neymar and Suarez signings are not youth signings (Neymar was 22, Suarez 27 when signed) Xavi was on bench that final and left straight after. He didnt influence Barcelona 2015 he was 35.
Puyol retired 2014 (nothing to do with 2015 final). Pique spent his youth at Man Utd between age 17-20, signed for Barca age 21. How is that Barca youth development?

So you are left with Busquets and Messi. And Messi is the type of player who comes once in a million years, so you cant expect Juventus to develop our own Messi.

So only Busquets was realistic 2015 youth developed player Juventus should also be able to develop. Well i give u one Marchisio for one Busquets.

Forget about their youth team argument in year 2015 or year 2017. There was even less youth developed quality in this Barca 2017 team we just beat. If we especially talk quality. I dont particularly rate the likes of Sergi Roberto. One came he plays fullback, other midfield. Even Barca doesnt know what is his best position and he didnt excel in either.

Their biggest youth prospects turned heroes were in the 2000s. And even Barca cant produce the next Xavi-Iniesta types as we can see.

There are literally so many options right now on our make-believe table I wonder how many are actually attainable

The players I mentioned won more than one Champions League together and they all came from Barcelona's youth ranks. That was my point.

Fair enough, but that was the best generation of spanish players in the history of football....

And my point is that even Barca cant produce the next gen to that.
Sure, I agree with that.

Success can be produced with youth players but it's not the only way and surely not the most conventional one.

We gotta splash dem cash on WC players now.

I would be more than happy if he roses to occasion sometimes, but thing is he rises never
like against monaco, right ?

can we please have a discussion where we do not act like five year olds ? "he does never do this", "he does always do that".

we bought higuain and got the best goal scorer of the league. he did score more this season than any other juve player did in the last past seasons.
higuain got 32 goals in all competition and nobody came even close to that number in the past seasons:

Best scorers in all competition for us by the last season:
dybala with 23 goals in 2015/2016
tevez with 29 goals in 2014/2015
tevez with 21 goals in 2013/2014
vidal with 14 goals in 2012/2013

we do not even properly feed him the ball and he still delivered. do you think ronaldo would score as many goals if he played for us ? definitely not, because he gets propper support at madrid while we let fatguain starve. of course there would probably be players that would score more with this lack of support, messi for example, but we would venture too deep into fantasy football territory here if we claimed that we could get someone like that.

Why do you rate Matic?? all he has is that he is a freaking giant.
Nothing more
Matic is great! He'd be an upgrade over Khedira imo, tactical player, solid technique, solid defensively, great passing range, more dynamic then Khedira, he'd fit like a glove.

But Sanchez is the one we need.

So apparently a lot of you turned to mercato to drown your sorrow, and I've decided to do the same and let my mercato delusion run free.

GK: Buffon, Meret, Audero/Del Favero
FB: Dani Alves, Cuadrado/Conti, Alex Sandro, Spinazzola
CB: Rugani, Bonucci, Chiellini, Benatia, Barzagli
CM/DM: Pjanić, Marchisio, Khedira, Tolisso/Fabinho/SMS/Verratti, Mandragora/Bentancur + maybe one of Cassata/Vitale
LW: Bernardeschi/Berardi, Orsolini
AM: Dybala, Pjaca + Clemenza
RW: Mandžukić, Mbappe
ST: Higuain, Schick

OUT: Asamoah, Lichtsteiner, Neto, Lemina, Sturaro, Rincon + some youngsters that are out on loan like Cerri, Kastanos, Donis, Leali, Thiam, etc. We also got money from Zaza and Coman.

IN:
Meret: he shouldn't cost that much and should be easy to get, max. 6-8M

Conti: would only take him if we could get him on a deal similar to Gagliardini or Kessie one. Otherwise I would play Cuadrado as a backup there, who can also cover RW spot, so that Orsolini doesn't feel the pressure. If we get Fabinho then he can also cover that spot.

Tolisso/SMS/Fabinho/Verratti: SMS will be impossible if Biglia leaves, otherwise would take him, 45M should do it. Tolisso, I am not convinced of him, but maybe he would do just fine. Fabinho would be great at a reasonable price 30-40M. Verratti is probably impossible due to the numerous factors (especially if we would get Mbappe and Bernardeschi). *I would also sell Khedira if we get a great offer for him and buy two of those stated players.

Bernardeschi/Berardi: Berardi is probably not coming, so I wouldn't mind Bernardeschi (but for 40-45M tops), who I would definitely take over the likes of Di Maria (inconsistent) and Douglas Costa (low work rate, behaveoural problems).

Orsolini and Clemenza: both deserve a chance to get a taste of the first team action, since obviously both are very talented and if they woulnd't work out we have enough players to provide cover for them.

Mbappe: No words needed about this one, would take a risk and take him ahead of sanchez. Has pace, mentality, ball control, strenght and everything else, a star in the making. Offer should be 65M + 20-30M in bonuses, most of them easily achievable.

Schick: a great talent, who would be an ideal replacement for Higuain.

So this is it from me. Delusion mode off, lets see what happens in the summer.
