*slowclap*

Not good enough to be a long term #1, not bad and cheap enough to be a #2

There can be couple of reasons for that:

1) They actually consider him long term Buffon replacement.
2) They will rotate Buffon on his final year (Real rotated Casillas in 2014, Casillas played all CL games, but other keeper played La liga, Barcelona played Stegen in CL but Bravo in La liga). This is not really a thing i like but its become more popular in recent years, goalkeeper getting rotated between CL games and domestic competitions.

Exactly.

Bitching about this signing makes no sense. Szczesny had a great season this year- most clean sheets in the league so I understand why we are keen on making this signing.

This guy is not worth to be together on training with Buffon let alone to rotate with him,16 m pounds and 3.5m pounds wage, there we go first big disappointment of the mercato

Szczesny is a MUCH improved keeper now.

Common you gotta give the benefit of the doubt to the people who follow him week in week out aka our scouts.

As I said, good stopgap solution until we find a legit Buffon replacement.

It's funny how we keep signing one of the "other top 2-3" keepers in the league and make them #2.

I expect he'll be sub this season, then if Buffon retires in 2018 as expected we'll sign another high profile keeper and let them battle it out like teams have done in the past. Let the winner take the spoils, etc.

All this makes sense if we manage to sell Neto to Napoli for 30-35 million euros so we can cover this guy insane wages, he earns double what Neto earns and still he is Neto level keeper

Btw, I dont have anything against Szczesny. If anything Id say hes a very good keeper. However its just a transfer per se that seems quite pointless to me.

Gigi might tbe old but hes a GK and not in a wheelchair. Theres no way he needs to be rested or something and he surely can pull one more season on his own. If not, then fine, I dont have anything against the transfer and yea Id rather save money for a midfielder rather than spending 50mln plus on other GK thats supposed to be new Gigi.

As I said in the other thread , keep Gigi mentally fresh for CL and other important games while Szczesny plays the rest. Gigi is not in a wheelchair alright but these are things you gotta do to have your best players in top condition for the big games.

Now please don't mistake me and imply that I'm saying is Gigi is a problem. I am merely suggesting this possibly as a plan to take the pressure off Gigi a little bit. Less mental fatigue.

There's no way Neto will be moving for more then 20.
That's what I am saying, having guy who earns 4million a year for playing 15 games is a fuck*ing luxury, and I would understand we are doing that if our squad and bench is set with WC from top to bottom, we are signing expensive keepers while we have non-existing midfield and Mandzo and Alves as a wingers, ridiculous

I'll be happy if he move him for 10. If we do, Szczesny will actually be a worthy upgrade for small price

Neto is pure personified garbage. Szczesny is at least mediocre
To be fair every keeper in Serie A is garbage except for Gigi.
Would love to see me some Lloris, post-Gigi.
