I have to say things are not looking good.
There are still 11 days left but a lot needs to be done. Ideally, we would have wanted 1 defender, Koop, 2 wingers or ~4 new players. At the same time, we still need to offload a lot of players including Kostic and Chiesa. Most recently, Szczesny, Rugani, Caviglia (on his way out) and Barbieri have left. Others that need to be taken care of include Arthur as well.
I reckon all up, we would ideally need to complete at LEAST 7 deals in 11 days (10 if you exclude Sunday).
Our recent track record has been of failure especially on the defenders - I call them Todi-BOH! and KuluWHO. Koop and Nico for some unknown reason can't be closed despite reports that the fees were agreed upon and the relevant clubs found substitutes - it was a domino effect that where we were last in line - only for the last domino not to fall. Incredible stuff.
I really hope that Giuntoli has something up his sleeve that no-one in the press knows about or something to salvage the market.
I was actually quite optimistic after we secured Luiz and Thuram - and wasn't too concerned about selling Huijsen and Soule` - I think everyone thought we were almost certainly going to get Todibo, Koopmeiners and 2 exciting wingers. Now we are on plan D or E for the defender and now facing the real prospect that Koop (who we sold Soule and Huijsen for) may never happen out of spite from Atalanta. Nico may not happen either.
Not looking good. Can still be salvaged but definitely getting very negative vibes right now.
