I think they thought Arsenal (Being an EPL rich club) would pay it all upfront in one payment. That isn't happening very often, even for the rich EPL clubs. Every club is trying to spread out payments.

Especially with those tighter spending rules in the epl now, nobody is paying a lump sum upfront.
