We need to go back to those days. There is no reason for us to pay higher wages than everyone else in Serie A.
Giuntoli is a good start with that. Zambo Anguissa was fantastic 2 years ago in Fullham and Villareal before, and Giuntoli signed him just for 15m.

I was telling @Dru and @Aush back then after Fullham relegated, we should be on that for sure. And now Anguissa is one of the best mids in the league.

Many examples like that in Giuntolis tenure there.

I was telling my cousin a few days ago, how is it that Napoli buys Anguissa and Kim while Jj buys Locatelli and Bremer. I liked the Jj signings at the time but the Napoli signings have been a lot better and were much lower risk. I’m happy we seem to be hiring Giuntoli.

Giuntoli is great and definitely a big step in the right direction.

He isn't a one man miracle worker though, we still need more "football" people in the management. Having the drunk-in-power Paratici sporting director was such a shame because he was a fantastic scout before. Having a scout of that level combined with Giuntoli could bring the competence back to Marotta-Paratici levels.

no problemo, we paid 35m for him and already collected 10m for the loan. Why not keep him with they dont want to sell? He has shown glimpses of great talent with them, but then faded away just like the rest of the team. We will need RW since Cuadrad and probably Di Maria are leaving. Keep him and extended his contract on reasonable salary.
I guess the problem is that we probably count on that money. Good to have back if he comes though.

Paratici was a fantastic scout but he was the worst sporting director maybe ever. Virgin FIFA players have blown money slower than Paratici.

Agreed.

We were actually close to signing Kim a year or so before that lol, but for our U23 team lol ultimately passed on him.

Its essentially different type of focus and asset gathering. Juve wants MVP CB of league rather then young upstart CB (which bremer himself was just before the award), to replace De Ligt.

And we need GM/SD with wider net. Because it was obvious Anguissa was a quality bargain, but its easier for our management just to focus on domestic players doing good in the league. Kinda like how they focusing on Frattesi now.

Anguissa works since Napoli work
Kim is an interesting while their real star is Kvaradona.
Bremer is a bit disappointing but Gatti is actually surprising.
Locatelli is very good actually but people need to understand a few things:
1. Another type of manager could get more from him.
2. Expect him to be a Marchisio and not Pogba or Pirlo.
3. His current ability might not be sky high but he isnt a jabroni either.

Besides that we need a coach who can create a gameplan and an attacking one while keep defense steady.
It would make the players look at least twice as good.

When we signed him, Pogba was a youth level player. Vidal was an up and coming midfielder in Bundesliga. We don't need star midfield signings, we need a quality scouting department, if they can't do their job hire someone who can.
I used to the word star incorrectly, my next sentence was more in line with what I wanted to convey. Highly rated talent with great upside who’ll become stars. Vidal was one. Pogba too, a lot of people were very excited because he was so highly rated and came here and eventually made a mark. Reading names like Rovella and Frattesi doesn’t invoke the same response. They are good players, but don’t look like players who’ll become stars in the future.

That midfield is good at best. We really need a star midfield signing. A Vidal or Pogba type transfer from back in the day. Highly rated players with more upside. Even a Pjanic level player will elevate our midfield considerably. It’s amazing that even after buying a shit ton of CMs over the years, our best midfielder since the MVPP era has been this years Rabiot. What a travesty.
This year Rabiot has played like an elite midfielder though. You won't find many guys with his production.

I might be the only one, but midfield really isn't the primary concern anymore once Rovella returns. I'm also assuming Frattesi is lined up in case Rabiot leaves. The wings are way more urgent imo, along with a new coach.

Rarely seen a club be entangled in so many shitty transfers. It took years to get rid of Melo, Bernardeski, Khedira, it will be the same thing with these three plus Mckennie, Pjaca, Rugani, Deshito, Sandro...
Khedira wasn't a shit transfer at all, and neither was Alex Sandro.

It's the extensions.

He was a good footballer no doubt. I do not question the purchase but his departure. The problem is that in the end it was injury after injury, and it was impossible to get rid of him.
When so many situations are repeated there is a problem, you give contracts that are too long, too important to declining players who no longer have the level or the motivation.
