There is a group of interesting young Italian players that we seem set to miss out on due to the state of the club. Scalvini, Frattesi, Baldanzi, Parisi, Udogie. I wonder who will sign Zaniolo too.

Salary is 17-18m gross, would be by far the biggest for both Juve and Serie A. Very strange for a CB, one of the least impactful positions on the pitch. A CB that hasnt even been that good lately.
18 million a year???? EIGHTEEN?? And he's not even wanted??

Press the reset button, this world is a failed project

Do we not have hunners of interesting young Italian players at the club already? The smart strategy is to sign promising kids when they are kids and before they get expensive which is what we're trying.

Imagine how much Fagioli would cost us if he was playing at Udinese.

Zaniolo is done by the way. Press the reset the button, he's a failed project.

Not every player is the same, we are doing the right thing promoting from our academy, it doesn't mean that we should stop signing promising players from other clubs.

Look at Soule vs Baldanzi, I don't watch every Empoli match obviously but every time I see him, I see a different level. Scalvini is a top talent at CB, not just in Italy but in the world, a De Ligt. If Raiola was alive and represented him we would probably see a bidding war that ended with Scalvini at PSG. Someone like De Winter should come back to grow, while someone like Scalvini can directly to star. Frattesi is ready made to start too.

IMO these guys can quickly become key players at Juve, not to say that we should sign them all, but some. We signed Chiesa and Locatelli from the crop of them + Barella, Donnarumma, Bastoni, Tonali. We don't want to miss out on all.

How is Ricci doing?
He is great, 21 year old leader in midfield at Torino. Complete skillset too, he already deserves a bigger club. IIRC Milan were denied in trying to sign him in January. If Brozovic leaves I can imagine Inter going for him in the summer.

For us, having Rovella and Locatelli it would be redundant to sign a player of that profile imo. Before we signed Rovella I preferred to sign Ricci, lets see how they develop.

I don't think I disagree with any of your thinking here.

My point was more that we've already placed bets on a lot of promising youngsters and over the next few years we'll see who has been worth the investment. It'd be the wrong move to start spending on too many other young but starting-age players because we'll end up with a bloated squad and inevitably the ones we cut loose will end up the top class ones (Spinazzola). Besides, CB is our strongest position atm. Who do we drop if Scalvini is coming as a starter?

We def don't want to miss out on all the best from any given generation, but we will inevitably miss out on some of them, we can't sign em all. Current/upcoming gen we have Locatelli, Chiesa, Fagioli, Gatti. Plus Rovella and Cambiasso and then Miretti if he comes good. That's not a bad list for a strong italian core of the squad.

To be fair I don't really know anything about any of these guys in other teams though, I only watch Juve games and Cremonese highlights to see how Carnesecchi is doing - because goalkeeper would be the only position I'd say buying a young player would be a no brainer. If we sign Carnesecchi and he keeps improving we'll have solved the GK position for 15 years. As far as I know we don't have any potential starter young GKs in the primavera, but we do have potential star defenders, midfielders and attackers is my point I think.

Valentin #Barco in #Juventus' sight. The 18 yrs old #BocaJuniors fullback has a contract until December 2024 and a release clause at $10M: he could become the heir of #AlexSandro in bianconero.

Nah, it was reported Max likes Koulibaly, so naturally you have users who dislike Koulibaly all of a sudden.
KK would be very good, but once again, he's nothing but a ST fix. Failegri is just that kind of coach, who'd rather invest in geezers than trust young talents. There's nothing wrong with that, until there is - this Juventus is not that team yet, and Failegri is the wrong coach for whatever the project is.

We seemingly have young talented CB's in the pipeline, but having someone like Koulibaly on top of that isn't gonna hurt. And his age isn't a problem at all for a CB.

If we skip the imaginary scenario where Chelsea loans him to us for free and covers half of his wage, would you take him at his current salary and make him highest paid player in Serie A?

I'm just wondering what's the delta in points earned if you field Koulibaly earning 17-18m gross instead of Danilo (5m gross) or Brember (9m gross), do we win a lot more games? imo in terms of the incoming, a Cuadrado heir is priority number one for this squad and something that'll definitely fuck us if we don't address it. a midfield starter is another one imo. if Koulibaly can be added on a bargain I'd definitely be happy about that, but not at the cost of fixing the glaring weaknesses and moving forward as a club.

I'm with you here. I refuse to believe we'd pay him that much. So either Chelsea pays some of it or it doesn't happen. But we'd definitely profit of having him in the squad, always liked him.
