He's not going to help you.
Look, I am not going to go through that again, I am sure you understand what I am saying. I am never denying that Pirlo is playing part to the regression, his part in fact is the most obvious impact. The blame on the upper management is not directly to what happens on the field but the decisions that lead to that. Let's go back to being stubborn about changing Allegri (not that I am against it but who they insisted to have instead). The regression was obvious last year and they again took the easy way out, blamed Sarri and hired a nobody (with all respect to the person and player Pirlo).

But to go telling me that ALL the blame is on Pirlo and that Paratici is doing an astounding job, then you have to accept what is being said about him.

I said it in my previous post, everyone has played his part in the situation we are in and I mean EVERYONE. Agnelli included.

And another thing, with another management that has a clue about building a team, Pirlo will not survive a minute.

Given that Paratici is charged with trying to rejuvenate a new cycle it's fair to say he's progressing in that criteria. The general consensus at the last summer mercato was that he did a good job, or at the very least above average given the difficult climates of covid, average age of the squad brought down and we got rid of some of the deadwood at least.

Anyone who thinks that a new cycle can be done in 1 summer window is somewhat naive and lacks an understanding of how things work. I'm not saying you don't in this instance but I get the impression that there are people who think a turnaround of players can happen simply and easily in 1 or 2 windows.

I've stated my case about the previous summer window that in hindsight you can argue placing all our resources into buying De Ligt and bringing Ramsey and Rabiot for free may have not been the wisest idea personally, I think it's hard to turn down the opportunity to sign a generational talent like De Ligt, yet here we are all wishing we signed Haaland or Mbappe when we had the chance.

We can argue all day about the person(s) responsible for hiring and firing, frankly speaking as much as I disliked Sarri, he would have done better in the league under than we have under Pirlo. But right now the results on the pitch are attributed to Pirlo's incapability, there is absolutely no way this team should be 12 points behind inter, however bad it may be. The points dropped have been mostly to the lower sides like Benevento and fiorentina, about 12 points by my calculations which is the gap between ourselves and the top, that's simply unacceptable in my books and again illustrates Pirlo's incapability and strengthens my point that this squad would be at the very least competitive enough to challenge for the title this season.

We should be all over Jose Gaya.

- 25 y.o (1995)
- contract running out in 2022
- Valencia sitting 13th. Must want a new challenge!
- 34 caps for Spain NT
- used to 442 formation and LB role

If he ends up in Barca for next to nothing, it's a clear missed opportunity IMO.

But you repeatedly criticized Marotta for the 7th placed season and hiring Del Neri. Not just then but years after you had seen the culmination of that work.

So answer this, does Marotta get that same new cycle grace period or does only Paratici get it?

So who is better? This guy or Gosens? @rakib567
Gosens knows the league, yet he plays a different role in a different system. He would probably be fine at LB, but he's a gamble IMO. When playing there for Germany he hasnt looked too good IMO. Gaya would need time to settle here. Can't be expected top performer from day one, but he knows the system, and he'd bring a lot of what Cuadrado does on the right side.. Im intrigued by Gaya.

I like him offensively, just really wary of his size defensively.

Would've loved Reguilon last summer.

Difference is that squad was awful and deserved to finish 7th on the balance of it's lack of quality lead by a donkey of a manager.

As I keep saying this team is competitive enough to still win the league.

Starting a new cycle doesn't mean you are no longer competitive, it may not be as easy but you can still be competitive as I believe we are.

We go and trounce a Barcelona side at the camp nou, as bad as they may be are still competing for the la liga title, yet we can't even get a win against Benevento in the last 2 attempts, we get a point away at crotone, we lost at home to fiorentina? drop points away at a struggling torino? That alone is 12 points dropped! on any given day with a half decent manager they'd get a consistent tune out of this squad.

If we really need to sell this summer in the amount of 100 million, then boys and girls, we're really fucked!

Welcome free transfers, opportunities and all the Padoins of this world.
