This is Evra's last season. The guy will be 35 years old next year. Buying someone like Alex Sandro is for the same reason we bought Morata, Dybala, Coman, etc... For the future.

And what the hell is this talk about Asamoah being a LB? How many times has he played for us at that role? We're just assuming he'll do great there, truth is we don't know.
True. We don't know, but I kinda guess that's the plan because we've stockpiled CMs.

I don't think it's comparable with Morata, Dybala, etc., if Asamoah is indeed gonna be used as LB, because if so, Asa won't be going anywhere anytime soon. In theory...

But Evra is. So while not a pressing need, we'll need another LB later on (which will happen to be next season).

That is IF Asamoah does well there and that is IF Asamoah would be better fit for that role than Alex Sandro.

Anything we say from this point of about whether he'll play LB, whether he'll become Allegri's first choice LB, whether Allegri is even considering it is nothing but assumptions.

Still the whole point is it's a hell of an opportunity (if source is legit) to have someone to replace Evra while offloading Llorente. And someone young who could easily play at his best for another 5,6 years. (There is why i compared it to Dybala, Morata, etc...)

Paying 20M+ for an LB is not an opportunity, it's normality. We can do this next year and every year

LB
Evra
Asamoah
Padoin

RB
Lichtsteiner
Caceres
Isla(Padoin)

AM (4-3-1-2)

LW (4-3-3)

Played LB a good amount for Ghana as well. Our midfield is crowded enough so I think it makes sense to at least give him time at LB considering how well he plays LWB
he openly admitted he doesnt like playing there for Ghana

“I’m the kind of player who attacks a lot. My style is different, I’m not a typical defender,” the Juventus midfielder told AFP.

With World Cup survival probably hinging on Saturday’s game against an ominously strong looking Germany, Asamoah feels he is being underused.

“I attack, try to dribble one-on-one and make crosses and shots,” added Asamoah.

“I’m not a left back. And I’m finding it difficult because I’d like to show what I’m capable of and show that I can do more.”

20+? With only one year left on his contract i doubt he would be anything over 20M. And then there's Llorente. So yes, an opportunity.

And no, we can't find a player of that quality for that role for this price while offloading dead weight every year. Sorry, but no way.

Okay, IF Allegri plans to use Asa as LB, we shouldn't sign him. Yes, Evra is getting old, but Evra is the theoretical backup, so we don't sign someone for 25m to replace him.

Besides, I'm hearing how great he is offensively, but how good of a defender is he?
