And then went on struggling for quite some matches. Looking at stats don't tell the whole story.

Even if we had Messi we could still not reach the same heights. What we did is not an every season's thing,a Copa, a Scudetto and CL Final with a real shot at the title. People here should REALLY lower their expectations or they're in for a big disappointment.
It's not my expectation, but we know what we're capable of so we should push for there again. I don't mean a treble, but the CL final. We probably won't make it again right away but our chances would obviously be higher the more quality in our team. So really, all I'm saying is that our likely starting team seems a bit weaker this coming season

No one expects us to be in the running for a treble again but you'd have to think that challenging for CL would look farfetched with that attack.

QF next yr will be a reasonable success for the club.

As Tevez was pretty much useless in Europe on his first season there's a fair chance we can be stronger with Dybala. Plus everybody's forgot we'll have an even more experienced Morata who i think will score twice as many goals next season. I really don't think we're weaker.

Even if we can't get Oscar or Isco, this team is still miles ahead of every other team in serie A. While a quality am would help, we are still building a younger team.

Buffon/Neto
Licht/RB-Bonucci/Barzagli-Chiellini/Rugani-Evra/Asa
Vidal/Khedira-Marchisio/Sturaro-Pogba/Pereyra
Pereyra/Oscar/Isco
Dybala/Berardi-Morata/Zaza

The thing is that isnt a guarantee and goes by subjective opinions at this point.

Tevez was a guarantee who was a menace for us since day 1.That isnt a given with Dybala or Berardi but time will tell i suppose.

I don't see how the first season is relevant :D I want us to come close the the second. I don't think Tevez was a fluke last season, he just finally clicked imo. Plus the difference between ItalTony and EuroMax

I would have liked if Dybala had a year as vice-Tevez so he could grow into the team with less pressure but oh well. We should at least make the quarters regardless

If we really go subjetive here, even Tevez wasn't a guarantee, especially given his troubling past.

But the point i'm trying to make since the beginning of this discussion is 1. We're not becoming weaker. Actually for the first time we can clearly say we're going up the steps, really progressing going forward. Investing in talented youth and still scavenging for great cheap talent. Kudos to our managment.

and 2. even if had Messi, Neymar and Suarez it still isn't guaranteed that we would reach the same heights again at being at a CL final, a scudetto and copa winner.

It's relevant because it's gonna be his first season here, and at a big club. It wouldn't be fair to expect him to be last season Tevez. Tevez had a full season to adapt to our system and get familiarized with everything else.

Although Dybala's pricetag should tell you our management truly believes he can be even greater.

I don't think we're on the same page I'm not doubting Dybala's quality, saying it was a bad move or anything, or want to compare his potential to Tevez. In the long run it may prove a masterpiece. Jus sayin I don't expect him to immediately have the impact Tevez had with us last season, thus we will likely be less potent in Europe this season.

I must say I am afraid that Tevez might leave but this is one hell of a team, even if noone else comes. What is also amazing is how we rejuvenated the squad and how the young players are in attack, more experienced in the midfield and vetarans are in defense. Exactly how it should look like.

I also expect Pereyra to have a real breakthrough season if he is given the chance to start.

I don't know why people tend to believe we will play 4312? I think its pretty obvious with the midfield we have that we need more direct attackers. We can hold the ball and pass around until midnight, but we are still not that creative and dangerous 1-on-1.

Pereyra - Morata - Dybala = great balance imho.
Coman - Zaza - Berardi = another, young and FAST front 3.

Then we can FINALLY get our counter-attacking game to the next level and probably get better as a team.
