If we get him I'm scared we'd lose one of Pogba or Vidal. Depends on the price. If we get him for cheap we could afford keeping them. I would prefer getting an up and coming kid like Danilo Barbosa/Mauri...The guy was solid at Benfica though.

Why would we sell Pogba after extending his contract barely a few months ago as well as making him one of the highest earners in the team ?
I cant imagine Juventus pulling a 'Milan-esque' move if you get what i'm saying. We're going to get massive offers either way in the future.
    Just calm down lads.

    @zizinho

Ask somebody who the best player in the world at the moment is and most people will tell you it is Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi.

You might also get the odd shout for Luis Suarez, Neymar, James Rodriguez, Manuel Neuer or Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

    But Javier Pastore?

The PSG midfielder is a fine player to be sure, but the best in the world? That seems a stretch.

However, according to the Guardian, Manchester United legend Eric Cantona picked Pastore as the best player in the world at the moment when asked the question.

Cantona gave his answer at a press conference on Tuesday ahead of the Laureus Awards, which will be held in Shanghai on Wednesday.

    Cantona said:

For me, the best player in the world is Javier Pastore. I watched two PSG games just to see him play. For me, he is the most creative player at the moment. Pastore is full of surprises. I love this kind of player

Interesting choice, Eric, although we suspect even Pastore's mum might not agree with you.

Anyway if we're serious about Witsel,i think he'll be brought in for the TQ position rather than a replacement for one of our starting mids.Thats the feeling i get.
I have that feeling too. I think he will play a Pereyra role.. CAM or CM when one of Marchisio, Vidal, Pogba or Pirlo is not playing. I think this would be another depth signing because we lose a good bit of quality when we dont have our starting mids and have to play Sturaro for example.

That said I am not sure about Witsel .. think he would be good for attacking mid? He seems to be Allegri's new juventus version of Kevin Prince at trequartista.

I really hope we are not signign Witsel to be a Pogba replacement. That worries me.

I think we are selling a CM if we are getting Witsel.
I dont know .. its not like we have top midfield depth given Pirlo will be 36 in a month and will prob not be starting for us in a year or 2. Having 5 good midfielders competing for 4 positions (counting Pereyra at CAM) is not enough when we are playing 3 competitions. Look at how much of a problem it has been with Pogba's injury in addition to Pirlo's. This team can handle losing one starting mid but losing 2 really stretched us thin. If we really lost Marchisio to an ACL we would have been screwed so the club probably realized they need one more top class mid to keep the tank rolling.

Pogba, Marchisio, Vidal, Pererya, Pirlo and Witsel for 4 midifeld spots would be great depth and would allow for more rotation without us losing anything. Also Witsel and Pereyra's versatility would be good.

18m euro seems low though for Wisel given Zenit paid 40 to get him and he is in his prime. Good deal if we can pull it off.

Asamoah, Pirlo (1 more year), Pogba, Witsel, Marchisio, Sturaro, Padoin, Pereyra...don't think that is enough?

I have my doubts Pirlo is going to stay beyond this season.

Also maybe Sturaro could be loaned out for all we know.
I think Sturaro will stay. At his young age, I think he would be OK playing 2nd fiddle for a season or two and try to break into the starting 11.

Pirlo will stay but probably won't start nearly as much next season. Then again, his kind of play doesn't require pace and he can still play 90 mins so who knows. I really do think we will sell one player (a big name) to make way for 2-3 really good players to improve the starting 11.
