Here's the closest thing I've come to a Cronios-length post. Let me know what you think if you can be arsed reading it.

If you think about the age of a lot of our core players and some of the flops/deadwood in the squad, we really have a shit load of buying to do in the near future and that will ultimately force Marotta's hand in selling Pogba. Considering the quantity of genuine starters we need to buy, I don't think that approximate figure of 90 million euros purchasing power will allow for big spending on one or two stars. The plan will remain the same - we'll continue to gamble on youth and any bargains we can find.

The hope is that prospects like Morata, Coman, Rugani, Pereyra, Berardi and even Sturaro or Mattiello can mature into top class players and form the backbone of Juventus. That is why teams invest in youth after all but Juve are traditionally unlucky and/or incompetent at consistently developing these prospects which is cause for skepticism. Italian youth have the lowest expectations of all, sometimes unfairly. Nevertheless, only Morata, Rugani and Pereyra are mature enough to be starting players. I'm all for loaning players out to hone their skills, every weekend for 90 minutes in a top league like Serie A. I think of all the young talent stolen from the minnows of Lega Calcio by clubs abroad recently - this is testimony to this leagues small clubs and their ability to develop youth. What good will Berardi, Coman and Sturaro really be warming benches of a club that seldom trust them to take the field? In doing so, have Marotta and P-Money prematurely resigned [some of] them to the same roles of whom they might be replacing? - simple squad players, tactical solutions for desperate situations. At such tender ages, having shown so much already, probably not. But letting these players have similar seasons to Coman's current one at Juve defies logic (I omit Zaza because I think first, that he has been resigned to be nothing more than a good back up who will get reasonable game time because he lacks the same potential as the aforementioned youths).

I feel Marchisio and Vidal still have at least 4 years of their best football to play. Asamoah is also still young but it remains to be seen whether he'll fill the gap left by Pogba in midfield or remain at full-back. Honestly, I've forgotten what sort of CM he can be. Pogba is obviously irreplaceable and if Asamoah were to be another pure B2B mid ala Vidal I would not turn my nose up at a Asamoah - Marchisio - Vidal midfield.

Needless to say our main deficiency lies in our entire back-four despite having a good defensive record recently. We need Rugani to be a star and we need to buy a great partner for him backed up by Chiello and Bonucci. Lichsteiner I feel will be eventually replaced by Caceras but we ought to have class, genuine full-backs for the first time in forever. It's been a missing piece of Juve's puzzle for far too long. Screw Dani Alves. Gambling on Darmian is the type of risk we need to make for the long-term. As for left-full backs it beats me where we could possibly find a cheap, young option for the future with the kind of talent needed. This means that Asamoah will probably remain at left-back, leaving a conundrum on who can complete a three-man midfield in Pogba's presumed absence.

Morata is the future of our attack and I truly believe he has the type of character to repay Juve's faith with many more years of service as long as we keep our squad competitive. I was convinced he'd be a star since his arrival. He is a true all-round forward. Strength, size, pace, hard work, intelligence. His technique is sometimes overlooked but his finishing has always been questionable. Considering this, what type of striker ought to be his partner? A Dybala or a Cavani/Falcao/Mandzukic? All of which I think Marotta won't fork out for once the big boys start making outrageous counter offers (if that were to take place at all). But the question remains - a true #10 or a goal machine for Morata?

High on the list of priorities are pacey wide attackers. Coman is still 18 FFS. We expect so much from him but realistically he won't be starting material for years. We need wingers for the left and right sides and as I said, they'll have to be bargains - another two strokes of genius from Paratici and Moratta but where they'll come from I have no clue. I personally like the look of Depay and reckon he's a good possibility.

Last is the illusive attacking mid with flare, fancy and an eye for goal. Arguably the most needed player of all for this squad depending on whether you think Pereyra (at 23) has much room for growth. Run through lists of names that fit the desired criteria and tell me we can afford them or if they'd like to come to Juve or Italy at all. I really can't think of anyone better than Pereyra available to us.

The main theme of Juve's market strategy won't change any time soon no matter how much profit we turn over on player sales like Pogba's. Not until the other clubs catch up with their stadium projects and the economic situation in Italy strengthens (this may take forever). When modern, club-owned stadiums are packed to the rafters once again then the purchasing power of clubs and the attractiveness of Italian football will make a return. Until this time, the strategy for even a relatively wealthy Italian club will have to rely on bargains - bosman transfers and scouted unknowns. Marotta and Paratici dragged Juve out of crisis doing this so there's no reason they can't do even better in the future with even more resources. But unlike the top clubs of which Juve once were, certainties and guarantees in the market are a thing of the past (Tevez being the only exception). We're going to take leaps of faith every time we buy and hope for Pogbas, Vidals, Pirlos and Barzaglis. We'll continue to engage in covert dealings, not bidding wars and this is why any Juve fan ought to quench their mind of expectations that now we have a competitive squad again, we will compete on the market for established quality or even young talents surrounded by hype (e.g Dybala..sorry).

So that's my prognosis. I won't predict purchasing players like Dybala, Firmino, Mata, Falcao, Verratti etc. for reasons stated above. Richer clubs know about them and want them. We may (god/Marotta willing) be able to snatch a center-half above the quality of any of our listed defenders. The market for forwards and any attacking players though has been bizarrely skewed by needless over-investment notably by Barca, Manure, Farsenal, Real Madrid and City. It's laughable how stacked their attacks are usually to their own detriment. So, I'd rule out any known top striker, winger or AM this summer. Ignore the headlines and see what surprises Marotta has install for us come July.

why Nenna why make such a long post?
Usually I couldn't care less but...

I remember going on these threads when I first joined the forum and that summer it was Xabi Alonso :tuttosport:. I was refreshing the page a hundred times a day. It was like being a kid on the longest Christmas eve ever. You know the rest. Every summer mercato is a repeat of the last. It's nice to dream but reading all these unrealistic expectations again made me wanna kindly remind errr'body that speculation is futile. We know Marotta's strategy well by now, we know the market conditions, we know who doesn't want to play in Italy. Sorry to be such a wet blanket all of the sudden, but none of the players we REALLY want to come are going to. Especially that one that sends everyone into a hysterical fap frenzy. This year it's gonna be Dybala, maybe Firmino.

Plus I thought I'd weigh in on bringing in all this youth which I think is going to be a big mistake. It's a played argument I know, so apologies. But 20 year olds ought not to be squad players. I think we're gonna be really frustrated seeing these kids not play.

My fingers must have gone into some kind of over-opinionated seizure. I better hit the hay, ay. Bless all your cotton socks.
