Buying Zaza only means we're developing him the same way we did with Morata, while the latter plays first fiddle (which he deserves). Too bad we can't hear the Immobile fanboys anymore...

Eder and Vazquez? Like, why???
Vazquez looks like a useful player for the squad, could become a good player. Eder has been a good Serie A player for a few seasons now, and fits Conte's type of player, but really he is just adding squad options getting these oriundi in there.

I mean what's the constant need for Oriundi all the time? It's pathetic and desperate. Especially when they are just ok players.
Eder is pointless, although rather him than someone like Giovinco. Vazquez on the other hand is something Italy don't really have, naturally, a classic South American AM who chips in with goals and assists. All of Italy's similar options are either more bustling players who move into wider areas, deep-lying playmakers, wide forwards, or the mediocre link man that is Montolivo.

Unfortunately, these are player-types that Italy doesn't have right now...Vasquez especially. Italy with Vasquez in the hole looks a lot better than our previous go to guy of Giaccherini.

Italy honestly has been only developing central midfielders, defensive midfielders, and #9s . It needs to encourage the development of central defenders, and #10s, which used to anchor our national team.

Also our #9s need to take it to the next level, particularly Destro who has shown flashes of brilliance.

Also, I feel like many of the top prospects are misused into mediocrity or just overrated. I mean our U-21 2004 winners should be in their prime playing years right now and most either suck or are past their primes - Bonera, Zaccardo, Gilardino, Donadel, Mesto... How does a team that wins a tournament like this go so wrong their career paths...

Or look at the 2013 runners up who lost vs. Spain...

Lots of potential, but only Verratti has really panned out:
Borini, Destro, Caldirola, Capuano, Gabbiadini, plus a number of of others...

Italy's youth need to take it to the next level.

Mastour I also fear is the most overrated player to come out of Italy - I fear he's all flash and no substance - In the videos I've seen, his dribbling is incredible, but his passing and shooting seems very below average. I hope I'm wrong.

Candreva is wasted in this formation. He could do heaps for Italy in an attacking-mid or wide attacking role.
Never understood why he isn't used on the left before...He is an incredible shooter. That being said, you waste his crossing ability there as well. One thing for sure: if you're playing Candreva and Pasqual who are probably the best two crossers in Serie A, you'd better have Pelle in the middle to receive those crosses.

We should save De Sciglio and El Sharaawy from the Milan medical team. We'd turn them into stars.
Milan may be willing to cut their losses on El Shaarawy - he's been so injury prone over the last 2 years. We'd be 2/3s there to a formidable 4-3-3.

Side note: Most overrated player on the planet = Alessio Cerci. I actually think he sucks in every way.

Yeah but stick with what you got, once or twice a decade or two decades getting an Oriundi is one thing, but EVERY year now, they call up random south american who is just in Italy a couple of years to play football, its embarrassing, this isnt club football. Its even more embarrassing when they given bigoted BS to italian born players with immigrant parents constantly (or dont even give them citizenship until they 18).

Simple reason, really, lack of talent.

I agree, it's embarassing. Paletta, Eder... I think Italy NT has hit an all time low, they are absurdely shitty. Absolute lack of talent.

Anyway. You know what... Just sell Berardi's half to Sassuolo... get rid of Ogbonna and Llorente... put in more 10/15M and get me Felipe Anderson. He's exactly what this team needs.

That's BS no matter whether they use Oriundi or not.

I don't particularly care about Oriundi getting called up tbh. I mean it shows the lack of "Italian" talent, but there's nothing intrinsically wrong with it. Eder is just horrible because it's Eder, he's not even a second rate player. Even given the despiccable forward pool Italy has to make due these times he's a bad choice.

Eder and Vazquez had Italian passports when they arrived in the country, so they are entitled after 2 years residence, I believe (or other stipulations). I agree it looks amateurish but it is required because of the large diaspora contrasting immigration laws.
