I read something the other day that there were cases known of men who were awake when they gave the lethal injections but couldn't react so I only assumed there was a third injection
don't really know how they would know if the guy was in pain or not
You're right, there are three injections, however the third one is meant to hasten the process.

First injection is something to make the guy fall asleep, second injection paralyses him (he will die from this too however as he cannot breathe anymore) and the third one is kaliumchloride which will stop his heart.

The problem is that the dosage used for the first injection is often too low and that they don't really take into account all the possible effect from kaliumchloride. It often doesn't kill people straight away and kind of chokes them the way the paralysis does. It also leads to heavy cramping of muscles.

There's some research that says about 40% actually die horribly.

So if they get the dosage wrong you'd feel some kind of pain? But couldn't do anything about it because you're sedated?

Well.. not really some kind of pain apparently. It's pretty excruciating. In fact it is forbidden to paralyse animals when killing them in the state of Texas

I think what it means is that once the bullets take the heart out, everything happens quicker than hanging, lethal injection etc.
Well indeed. A bullet to the heart makes you go in shock, meaning you don't feel any pain. Three or four bullets make you dead in about 15 seconds.

But no method of dying is going to be "fun".

Shooting someone three bullets through his head simultaneously seems to be the most humane option after all. Funnily enough what looks most humane is actually the worst possible option by far.

Wow that's a very big percentage.

A hang would kill you in about a 15 seconds too.

Yes, at first they assumed it was a small minority, but apparently the people executing them aren't medically schooled whatsoever, which explains the bigger and bigger numbers new research finds. So there's the fact that they don't really know how people individually will react to the substances (Robyn Lee Parks for example..) and you add to that that they don't even know what they're doing.

    Wow. I didn't know this.

Instead of sentence people to die, just live them incarcerated for life. But if you do that then the "those inmates cost the state a lot of money" dilemma comes.

if your dog is sick he gets an injection and he's dead in seconds so why can't we do that with humans?
or is that dog in pain too but he obviously can't tell anyone?

Well yes, but killing them just isn't an option unfortunately. And if you're going to kill them, you're going to have to do it the old fashion way. Injections are really not the way to go.

I don't really know what they give animals unfortunately. But I suppose it'll be even worse, otherwise they would simply use the same thing, no?

No no. Here in Iran they use hanging for executing people and we had many cases in which the man stayed alive while being up there and they had to redo the process for more times. God, those were beyond horrible.
    :snoop:

Off topic, but don't you ever want to leave Iran?
