People assume we will play a 4-3-3 as our main formation, but we have no proof of that; 3-5-2 seems more likely in my opinion. If it is the case, then there wouldn't be any problems when it comes to fit Jovetic in our squad.

There would be a problem in that there still wouldn't be anyone looking to play as a No. 9 and getting into goal-scoring positions frequently, looking to run in behind the defence and generally play like an orthodox CF.

Playing without one leads to games like ones where Juve played Vucinic and Qualiarella, where there was lots of neat, tippy-tappy play in safe areas in front of the defence, but very little by way of dangerous, penetrating play.

I agree with that.

We could still play Jovetic in support of Matri, or Destro (if we were to get him); I think the former fits more in a two forwards system than as a CF in a 4-3-3 anyway, especially given he's not that mobile as a striker and that he's frequently isolated in that system.

I think i'm pretty convinced that if we're buying anyone(for the attack) it will be within Italy..

Or my sixth sense tells me rather :numnum:

We should only get Jojo if he's purchased to play as LW instead of Vucinic, playing him as RW/CF is waste of his talent.
City played a lot with Aguero and Tevez in attack, both of which are seen as SS's. For Montenegro Jo-Jo plays as a support striker while Mirko is the CF. In 3-5-2 all these combinations will be used: (SS- Giovinco CF - Jovetic ------- SS - Giovinco CF - Vucinic ------- SS - Vucinic CF Jovetic ------- SS Jovetic CF Vucinic). In 4-3-3 both Mirko and Jo-Jo can play both as AMLs and CFs, while Giovinco can be AMR and AML. Way too many combinations, especially when you add Matri to the mixture.

Trezeguet, what a striker!

I'm wondering if Marotta sees Jovetic a as player too good to pass up, and therefore will recommend to the board - if available - that funds should be released so signing him and a center forward would be possible.

With Giovinco coming back it doesn't seem likely, but one can hope :xfinger:

Davide was the fucking king. Never will there be another Trezegol. What a fucking player. He had so much left to give this team, still. Even today, coming off the bench, he would have the capability to turn a game on its head. anyway, as for JoJo, if we are serious about a player plus cash exchange I'm not sure spending 15m plus Gio for example, will be the end of the market, coz I'm pretty sure it'll be a replacement for Gio with a CF still to come. If JoJo or Suarez came I'd be happy with a Dzeko as CF instead of an RvP or Cavani.

Would totally love it if we signed the Balkan Totti (minus the insane vision), if its a realistic opportunity and long term project for the club, would defenitely be a smart move. Even if its not the most immediate need (not the best box striker etc).

He killed Roma in Coppa with vision, but too bad Ljajic couldn't nail it in the end. He did show how great he was in that match, his passes were ala Totti where he flips all over the defense. The guy has it all, perfect type for classic #10

Oh dont missunderstand, I find Jovetic to be quite creative and resourceful nr 10, I say minus because Totti has the best and most insane vision I ever seen a player have. But yeah I said it early on 3-4 years ago, that he reminds me a bit of Totti.

I dont recall that coppa game, but I recall this older game against them were he impressed me alot, in his ability to keep whole defense on edge and generally stretched out (extremely energetic and relentless mofo). And one of those "Totti" flicks you mentionned can be seen in 3.50 min mark, so effortless technique:
