Says the guy that Matri is worth 18m?

---------- Post added 18.07.2012 at 12:25 ----------

thats what we bought for him doesnt mean clubs would be interested to pay up that amount/meet that valuation..

Realistically i'd say Pazienza 1.5-2m,Padoin 2-3m..
No way. That's gotta be too low.

Meh, we spend about 25 m € for Melo and Diego each. .
Yeh, but u are not taking in consideration the "ones" that spend that money. They were absolute retards, and because of that we paid dearly.

Yeh, that money spend on jojo is justifiable..... but the transfers of melo and diego dont mean anything when we simply totally overpaid.

Now, we are more coautious in our transactions and rightly so. We have wasted too

And also...theres the issue of the CF, who we need so much. Marotta cant splash money from a player he knows is not a priority.

Jovetic would easily fit in here and I don't have any problems with him being the number one option. Actually if I had to pick one striker out of available ones (IMO) it would be him.

    'Jovetic thinking about things’
    By Football Italia staff

Vincenzo Montella has admitted that as Juventus and Fiorentina publicly battle over Stevan Jovetic, the player is thinking through the situation.

The 22-year-old has been strongly linked with the Bianconeri this summer and yesterday saw their director general Beppe Marotta make known the club’s positive assessment of the forward.

Even as Fiorentina hit back with a high valuation that prompted Marotta to back-track slightly, Viola Coach Montella has reflected that the situation is on the player’s mind, even if the player has already informed him of his intentions.

“Football today is like this, we must be prepared for these instances. For our part we have expressed our will to keep him, now it falls to Stevan to assess the situation, if he hasn’t already done so,” reflected the 38-year-old at his Press conference today.

“Then, there must be a team willing to invest in him. He’s an extraordinary player who any Coach would want to work with.

“I have spoken with him first, with the promise that I would not then speak publicly. I know his intentions, he has been training well but it is understandable that at this moment he is thinking about things.

“Is he motivated or thoughtful? Both. I consider him in all effects a Viola player. It would be easy to curry favour with the fans. I just hope that he stays.”

I think between Giovinco & Jovetic...they could total bag around 30 goals this season. In all honesty, with the strength this team has now, I don't see scoring goals as a problem.

I agree about last season and not scoring the chances we had...well, we had players like Esti, Giach, Pepe and an hot/cold Mirko in and around the box...plus Matri/Borriello/Quag just couldn't get any consistent rhythm.

I don't think we will have to worry too much about that this year. Especially if we keep Matri.
Jovetić and Giovinco both had strong seasons but they still aren't looking like a clinical prima punta which we've not had since Trezeguet, so we're just going to disagree. None of our strikers can be considered very clinical on a European level, and Juventus will be found out in the Champions League if it's not addressed.

If anything, signing a player like Jovetić should be put off until next summer if needed, because of the depth we already have in Giovinco and Vučinić.

That's what I believe the team needs right now, and as a huge fan of Trezeguet I am constantly disappointed when I see the ball whipped into the penalty area or across the face of the goal and our strikers are nowhere to be seen. Or if they are around, they horribly miss the goal, which was a theme in many of the games last season.

Edit: I've been calling for Jojo for years as well, but presently Juve should be more desperate to find someone to fill Trezeguet's boots than to fill Del Piero's boots in my opinion.

    :delpiero:

On the bolded bit, that bugs me in all football.

People moan about poachers being limited and not being able to create for themselves, but then they won't bat an eyelid when there is no-one around to finish off a good cross because the fancy forwards are too busy hanging around the edge of the box waiting for the chance to do something spectacular.

You are definitely analysing things the way it should be done.
Right now we have this dilemma "getting the much needed CF who will enhance our striking line so much" or "getting this rising star who we dont need so much and will cost us lots of moneys, but will be a future investment and maybe we will not have another chance like this to get him".

Its indeed a tough situation...... but sadly, if we analyze it taking in consideration our needs..... it points to jovetic not being the most optimal option, taking in consideration what we will get for the cash we are paying.

Still, is difficult to let him go that easy.

What about offering vucinic? how much is he worth?

    That's a terrible thought :D

Vucinic might not be the main reason, but he'll be a big factor in Jovetic's choice to come to Juve. On the other hand, he won't accept Fiorentina, that's something you can bet on. Neither can Fiorentina pay his 3m eur a year wages.

The Vucinic thought crossed my mind too - but no one will buy him for the price we'd be willing to sell. If we wanted to be easily able to afford the JoJo option (which we knew all about since the end of last season) we would have cashed on Giovinco and used those 10m to close the JoJo deal easily now.

can be done for 25m €. We were pushing hard for Cavani but the vioal rats are more keen to sell than De Lamentiis so as of today JoJo is closer.
