This would be a fucking good transfer if it goes through, long as we don't overpay. Either way, I don't see this being done before the transfer window opens. Hope I'm wrong :D

Yeah, in a couple of years, when he's 25, he will still be considered a "young talent" just like Giovinco. And even now, he hasn't shown much skill even to become the Great 15 goals 11 assists man. Just because he is from the Primavera doesn't mean that we should keep him. Just look at De Ceglie. He was benched by Peluso... Farewell, Marrone

He wont be missed because he didn't feature much but the boy is talented and with Vidal-Pirlo-Marchisio in the team he can only get better.

I wouldn't give Marrone away.
:agree:

Best passer in the team after Pirlo. I'm sure he'ill shine if given the chance elsewhere. There was a reason Conte didn't want to let him.

Look, perhaps mediocre is too harsh a word - there must be some reason a CHL aspiring team like Viola want him. Point is that we can't improve our team without making some sacrifices. With Asamoah aged 24 and Pogba aged 20, both with long term contracts and who are currently playing at a much higher level than Marrone, I think trading Marrone for a large upgrade in attack is one of the smallest sacrifices we can make on our way to overhauling the attack.

It takes time to bench one of Pirlo - Vidal or Marchi and lot of work. Pogba has exploded as one of the biggest talented players in his position but yet he wont be in the starting 11 next season.

Marrone and Pogba can be worked on together for a future project when Pirlo steps aside.

Do you think it's worth gambling on Marrone fulfilling his potential when he can be used in a direct trade to get a large upgrade in attack right now? It seems to me that we're stacked in midfield and that Marrone is the last in line to get a spot. He's only had 1 game in his preferred position this season.

I think it's worth paying a bit more for Jovetic while keeping Marrone.

I just haven't seen this talent and quality in his game for the past 2 years. He had some great passes, he fights hard for the ball but that alone can't keep him in the squad. Like you said - Pogba has been a beast this season and he still isn't a starter. Then how can Marrone be ever a starter ? After Pirlo retires and we sell Vidal ? And who knows when that's going to happen ? At least not for the next 2 years. When Marrone will be exactly 25 and will have played 20 matches for that period. I'm sorry, he's a likeable player, he's our boy, but we are talking about our potential #10 for the next 10 years. If Marrone is what it takes to make this deal happen - ok. I would rather give them Matri or Quagliarella, but if Luca has to go, then he has to go.

Cool. I'm just afraid that the cash price will be 30m - which we won't pay. 18+Marrone values Marrone at 12m, which he certainly isn't worth at the moment. That's why I think it's in favor of a switch, but I can understand the not wanting to give away talents aspect of it :)
