We can't afford Suarez' wages, 4.5 would be quite an upgrade for Jojo. That's why this transfer is plausible to begin with!
We can. Remember we were in the race to sign Aguero and RVp at some point. We lost those races because of many reasons, including wages, but we didn't initiate interest thinking we'd be paying them 4.5m either. Juve know that when they are in the market for a certain profile of player. Suarez has it all, and he probably fits the region of the salary we are perhaps willing to pay. 7 m or so.

30 million euro, while a "little" painful, is actually not that much for a player like Jovetic. To whomever complains about that price tag and talks about guarantees, the only type of players that spring to mind that bring you those types of guarantees is Suarez, Aguero, Tevez or last season RVP. Now how much would a club have to pay for Suarez? Minimum 40 million I'd say. Man City would not let go of Aguero for less than 40-45 as well either, and that's assuming he'd like to leave.

Who else is on the market? Cavani? He'd be what? 35 - 40 million to get. Falcao? Minimum 40, more than that most likely. The market has changed, that's the reality of the situation, and at 30 million Euro, I think Jovetic is the best player available at the moment, unless you want to cheap out and get Sanchez who has flopped spectacularly at Barcelona and just doesn't have the same amount of talent as Jovetic does.

Well, rather 35-40 for that type of player than 30 for JoJo.
Who would you get for 35? It's 40 minimum, and that's wrestling a nice deal. I'd say 40 for Suarez would be a great deal but more realistically Liverpool will want more than that. Besides, we payed 18 million for Asamoah and same for Isla (fml). Would you say Jojo is only worth the same as them? Or only a few million more? I mean, I'd say 25 million would be a great deal to get Jojo, but 30m is hardly a ripoff.

The price for Isla is way too high, and I don't think we'll pay it. He will be sent back, I reckon. 18 for Asamoah is a bit in excess, but it's an okay deal. I think 15 would've been a great deal for him, but 18 is fine.

As for Jojo, around 22 million would be a great deal. You might say; that's just 8 short of 30, does it really make that big of a difference? Well, it kinda does, when you take wages into consideration.

As for Suarez, we should pursue if he wants to quit Liverpool (for lack of CL football). We should be able to do business for around 35 then. If he wants to stay, the price will probably be 40+, as you say, at which point it's time to abort.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Isla is here to stay, it was only a half ownership to extend the payments, but he's staying. I don't mean any malice with this, but you are not being realistic with your valuations, especially with clubs like City, Madrid, PSG and the likes inflating prices. I mean, 40 if Suarez wants to stay? Talk more like 45 - 50, he's the best PL player that's "available" and not at an enormous club. Maybe you can lower that to 40 if he wants to leave, since AFAIK there's no danger of his contract running out any time soon.

22 for Jovetic is...well, that'd be nice, but it's just not how things work nowadays.

Well I did say 40+ if he wants to stay, and by that I didn't mean 40,5. 45 sounds just about right.

22 for Jovetic is unlikely unless he wants to leave, which I think will be the case in the summer. I'm not saying it isn't likely that Viola could hold out for 25 or even 30, I'm just saying I wouldn't pay that.

He said in interview yesterday that he is not afraid of making big next step in his career. It looks like he is ready for departure.
