They don't quite have a choice. He has a 30m buy out clause inserted into his contract. If we meet that, we need to convince Jovetic and there is nothing Viola can do to block the transfer.
Indeed.

Fantastic footballer, but why is he so damn slow :(

Dude has Amauriesque acceleration. If he was quicker, he could be the best in the world.
I hope you aren't basing your decision off of his pace. :D

No, I'm saying Jovetic is slow.
I love you Jem, but you're talking out of your ass on this one. He isn't a pacy winger, but he has more than enough pace on the first 10meters to pass defenders, pull away from them and shoot / pass.

What he does do regularly is this

30m is enough to make them tune out the hostile voices of their fans. That and some players in exchange.

If he wants out and asks to leave and we have a serious offer on the table, sure its going to happen.

Italy hates us, why people think we won't conduct business as usual (same for other clubs operating with us) is beyond me, especially if the offers are serious.
You're kidding yourself if you think Fiorentina will negotiate with Juve in the same way clubs like Atalanta or Udinese will.

If that clause is legit then yeah, they don't have a choice and the player is what matters. He said "bargain and deal", and the club's aren't in good terms.

His pace just worries me, that's all. Seen him get into trouble because of it on so many occasions. But to call it Amauriesque was a bit harsh. It's definitely his worst / most average attribute, though. And the reason I'm bringing it up is because his pricetag is 30m euros. One should be able to expect a lot with such a price. It's also true that he hasn't had one season yet which justifies such a sum.

If Jovetic wants out, if Juve offer something serious...they don't have a choice.

We can chalk up 30m and done deal it that way, or offer cash plus players they might want. I don't think it will be as bad this summer as it was last summer with the berbatov drama. No one here knows if Marotta has even been talking to them or not anyways.

Fine goals, and yes, the dude is skillful, but this is not the type of player who gives you guarantees in the same way that for instance Zlatan does. Not that I believe we have a chance of signing Zlatan, but it's just to make a point. Jovetic is very, very skillful, and I wouldn't mind him at the club, but if we are to splash 30 million euros + high wages on someone, I want that player to guarantee a certain amount of goals and assists. That's what a world class player is, and Jovetic simply isn't there yet (even though he's very good).

In conclusion: Yes, I want us to sign him, but not for 30 million.

He is only 23. He is ready for the step up and the team he would walk into here at Juve would allow him to to showcase himself without having to carry the burden of a mediocre team like Viola.

That's the thing. He's 23. There's no track record of him being worth the 30 million. When we bought Zlatan, Zlatan was also 23. We paid 16 million euros. A sensible sum, for someone who had shown great potential at Ajax, but still had it all to prove. Jovetic is in the same situation. And let me tell you this; he might be very good, but he's no Ibrahimovic!

It's been how many years since we bough Zlatan? I think its safe to say that we all know that players valuation has since inflated since then, not to mention attackers always cost more.

Two different kinds of players anyways. I'd love Ibra to come back.

You actually believe that 16 million euros in 2004 is similar (or somewhat similar) to 30 million euros today?

When there has been a financial crisis in the meantime?

Just don't get me wrong, Hust. I want Jovetic here, but we can't splash 30 million on someone who can't guarantee a return on that investment. The Amauri / Melo / Diego cases should have taught us that.

The season before his injury definitely justifies that sum, if he keeps up the pace for the last 10 games of this season it will be the end of a glorious season for him. He's been here, there, everywhere this season (except the small injury break).

The only reason for this reservation must be because you haven't followed Viola this season. He drops down, shrugs off defenders, spreads out play, links up with the other forward and quite often scores.

What do you expect from a 30m secondary striker, with plenty of room left to grow? He has 12 goals and 6 assists in 24 appearances this season.

Which is why I'm saying he's very good. I just don't think you appreciate how much money 30 million euros is. And I've seen Fiorentina play plenty of times this season. I don't base my opinions out of thin air.

We're not disagreeing on the player's talent, just the transfer fee.

Clubs like Real, City and PSG are the reason why clubs are asking for such ludicrous amounts of money for their players.

Jovetic is not Amauri, Melo or Diego...not even close. Jovetic has done more than they all have and is only 23.
