His passing isn't as good as you'd expect of a deep midfielder for Juve. He would also have to stay in a more fixed position, rather than being able to roam around and win the ball. Does he have that awareness and discipline?

That is, of course, if he was to play as a lone deep midfielder. If he had a partner it would be more likely to work.

I agree that he has a lot of attributes that would make him suitable to have a go at playing fullback/wingback.

I agree Im not sure the position that Gattuso held down so well is really around anymore. The high work rate with subpar passing ability is hard to mange into todays game if they just sit deep. They seemed to be to extra man up and down the field with the work rate then the defensive bulldog

yh, we don't have that bull dog type of defensive midfielder anymore. we now have tall, physical defensive midfielders like busquets and matic.

he had numerous situations where he stopped Milans attacks by tackling and winning the ball back for us, some of them with numbers down behind the ball as Licht and 1-2 mids were high up the pitch. also had a good chance to score on a cross from Pogba

Absolutely useless with the ball at his feet. Workhorse yes.. but is that really enough to play for Juve? I don't think so...
He is so limited, too mediocre imho.

I think people are being harsh with them after this game. He clearly doesn't add much in an attacking sense and his technique is quite bad, but he was pretty solid defensively. Was a one man tackling machine in the second half.

Probably his best game of the season. He can tackle but he is still liable to give the ball away with some spastic passing. The days of playing brainless Sissoko-like midfielders should be over for this club. We need three midfielders on the park who can pass the ball.

Yeah if he can't ever improve his basic passing ability, then he doesnt have a long term future here. His defensive attributes are very good IMO, but we do need something more. Maybe give Lemina a go there next time (if Sami is out again)
