Can anyone think of a ref who's done well?
De Bleeckere.

And he's number three in Belgium, which says enough really.

FIFA got away with it four years ago and it definitely looks like they're getting away with it again. No less than three major scandals in Europa, no less than 20 questionable decisions that influenced a game, yet everyone says shit.

Several cards of that game were justified, including red ones. However, Ivanov made a crucial error of judgement in the opening half hour of the match by waving cards around for tiny fouls where he should have given a free kick only.
I think that he lost the match when he failed to make a call when Costinha hacked Oijer, and Robben was kicked in the chest inside the box. With yellow cards being delivered like they are going out style, you can't let serious fouls go for no reason...

Still, with last match obviously topping the list, this whole World Cup has been a disgrace for Holland. Awful, awful play and horrible sportsmanship. Van Basten has to go. NOW.
Truly, Van Basten has been shite. Leaving RVN on the bench for the terrible Kuijt, and playing Boularouz as a right back. I mean, Khalid is a good tackler, but he doesn't have the pace to handle CR or Figo, thus his red card. However, it's unfair to call for his axing at the moment. Yes, we lost the first half, but the entire second half was overshadowed by the referee, I'm surprised that the players even continued the game.

Still, out of all matches in charge, Van Basten managed to make us play nice, attractive football for a total of what? 60 minutes? It's just not good enough...

I posted a bit on his tactics somewhere else... maybe you've seen it. It was in the 'second round' thread as I recall
