If they seriously had to make the spinoffs they could have at least set them in the times of the Old Republic like KOTOR. Make them IN Star Wars but yet something totally not related to the actual Saga.

That is not canon anymore unfortunately . Still I think it's a good idea and it's better they went with it this way . It's a world we know in a time period we know so it would be easy to sell it to the public . If the fanbase is reignited with SW VII and Rouge One than they can start to explore better time periods and give us something more original .
