To be frank, yes.

They are to be held as an example to other teams.

I wish Juventus were run on a similar basis as Barca: don't you?
To spend millions of euros to form a star studded team but at the same time sing another policy? To be hypocrites you mean? I don't think I want Juve to be hypocrites.

Or are you talking about their charity image one the outside that covers the huge advertising merchandise that they really are?

But the close to 100 mil player has been instrumental for Real whereas Barca didn't even need Ibra for whom they paid much more than what he was worth.

What about Pedro? I don't think he'll be a bench warmer after this season.
The season is pretty long and he can replace either Ibra or Messi on the sides.

I think Ibra was pretty decent this season even though he didn't impress as much as they hoped (mainly because of him playing out of position). I just don't think that Barca will sell him so soon.

well spoken...but barca ain't never gonna pay almost 100 for a player and not winning anything important.
"Barca will never do ...." is something I heard many times, and yet they ended up doing it.

They blamed Real for buying expensive mercenaries, just so they'd buy Zlatan for 69m eur the next week.
I heard Ian here saying how he'll never understand how could Juve pay so much money for Thuram, a RB. How much did Barca pay for Dani Alves?

Barca did a fantastic job with the youth school. They produced many players so they didn't need to splash money for those positions. What would have happened if they didn't produce these players? We can't know, but we can assume what would they have done, judging by what they did for those positions in the team, for which they don't have a quality youth product. The striker position for example. 69m for Zlatan and now 40m for Villa. Eto'o and Henry before that. The RB position. Hell, even for the CB position where they have youth products, they paid 25m for Chigrinsky.
Barca won't keep producing these youngsters forever. Look at Ajax now. How many youth products made it to the first team in the last 5 years and how many of them are world class? If the same happens to Barca and they don't produce top quality for some 4-5 generations, how much do you think they will spend on new players?

In other words Barca oozes hypocrisy and so do its fanboys.

Ibra was a mistake, true.

But as they won a couple of major trophies, they might not see it that way.

i like you, but i have to be honest this barca admiration of your is getting mighty close to "ian" territory
Who is Ian?

Really, I like both Real and Barca (I enjoy watching them play), but I am not a fan, although I am a fan of the Barca tri-colours.

But wouldn't you like Juve to be run a similar basis?

i cant stand either, the only time i enjoyed watching madrid was with la quinta del buitre, now that was a team. How is barca run any different than any other team? the socios you mean?
