You folks are too gullible. You want to believe that Real sucks so much because it's more fun. Can't say I blame you though.

Real will beat them 5-0 in the Santiago so this result won't really matter. But to be honest, its like i said, too risky for Perez. Not to mention he can make money in a million more ways, ways that are more subtle and less risky. You guy's theory is just way too far fetched.

10 out of 10 for creativity though :D

Some guys here sound like a Milanista I know, who claims that Milan don't really suck, it's just that Berlusconi is selling the games to make money.

It will matter because it made them money.

Too risky? Do you honestly believe a big cahuna like Perez does everything by the book? Come on people...the biggest part of his empire is construction and if Mafia is anywhere it's in construction. No-construction lands are bought cheaply, than magically converted to construction zones worth billions, where you put housing projects and make 20 times the money. It's the most legal way to launder money. I don't know what kind of things happen in your country, but here things like that are a public secret. And I doubt we invented this kind of thing. No way a guy like Perez doesn't launder money, one way or another. Plus he was/is in politics so this guy's probably got connections in every department of the state to cover his back. I'm not saying he's some Don Corleone, but there's no doubt in my mind he's clean as a whistle. The state taxes alone would eat him up, without his business on the side.

Besides, illegal gambling is all about multi-millionaire's, it's not about average joes like you and me. Don't be so sure about un-important games being thrown.

I never claimed Perez was clean or that he wasn't a shady guy. But i am in no position to make judgments, as i don't really have anything to go by to make such a statement.

How do you think he got the players on board for his plan? Did he bribe them? threaten them? Whatever Perez did, was it enough to convince his players(all of them) to jeopardize their careers?

These players are millionaires, it won't be easy to bribe them, threaten them or whatever to jeopardize their careers.

The idea the game was fixed is absurd. As Fred rightly said, it would not be possible to bribe these players: is anyone going to tell me Raúl would go for that.

Fact is they didn't care about the match.

Last year, I think, Real was also knocked out of the Cup by a third-tier team. Coincedence? I think not. They've got nothing from that competition, the players don't mind if they don't play it. Why would he need to threaten them? He's the one who signs the paychecks, he can just as easily destroy their career. And one Raul Gonzalez's got nothing on Florentino Perez...there's no risk in this scenario as the opposing side isn't aware of it.

1. Pellegrini widely criticised
2. A super talented team in a crisis
3. Unimportant game coming up

Perfect time to throw a match. If anyone's suspicious, they say the players off-form, were not motivated against such a team, in that competition. They've been reprimanded and the next leg will be a lot different. And Real wins the next leg 4:0, 5:0, 6:0 whatever. Everyone forgets about it.

Its not like he could just stop signing their paychecks if he stopped feeling like it. They have a legal binding contract. Just because he pays their salaries does not mean he owns them. I still think there is no way he could have got all those players to sign up for this.

He can do what Lotito is doing to Pandev. Put him on the bench and not play him for a year. Neither side would want problems over a game against Alcocron. The players don't wanna play it, the boss makes some money. Everyone happy and no one ever knows.

But enough of the conspiracies, everyone can believe what they want. Personally I can't believe Real could lose like that from Alcocron. Even at half time they could have said, fellas our reputation is on the line, let's at least score a couple of goals. They obviously had no motive, what was the reason behind it...that's for your consideration.

Inside information?
No just common sense. It looks like to me that Real Madrid didnt give a flying fuck about this game, and they under-estimated their opponent and their opponent played the game of their lives.

Do you seriously think the whole team would have been on such a huge bribe like that? One or two players, sure, but the whole starting 11/coaches/reserves etc. No chance.

They were just fucking atrocious and copped a deserved beating against them.

TBH, the fixing scenario is possible, but the problem is the players. It's incredibly difficult to keep such a thing a secret when at least 15 people know about it, especially if Perez gets in a conflict with one of them later one, if one of them publishes it in his autobiography when he retires etc.

For an example I refer you to the case of Nelson Piquet Junior vs Flavio Briatore. Only 3 people knew about it and it still came out when Nelson was fired. Too risky IMO. When 2 people know about a secret it's one person too many, let alone 15+.

He doesn't need to bribe all 11 players, it's more than enough to have defender, gk and striker or midfielder.

And still I think it's more unlikely that third division team can beat beat Real couse they don't give a fuck, I say that would plasuable if they won by one eventually two goal margin, but four. I mean c'mooon, it's to obvius...
