I don't hate them cause I am jealous. I hate them because their fans are a mockery of what it is to be a football fan. The only football fans I know here in the states all just love Barca so much and try to talk like they know everything about football because they know who Lionel Messi is. This shit pisses me off these so called fans don't know a thing about football
Kyle is right, you know.

So you hate a club because of some glory hunting yanks? Those kinda barca fans exist all over the world, in fact, nothing to do with barca, bandwagoners for the current big team, that draw gloryhunting "casual" fans, who dont care fuck for football except for rooting the best. Just human nature, and as a dedicated football fan, we should know of this phenomneom real well.

its absoluteLY RETARDED childish BS, to hate on a club for those kind of people.
I disagree. The existence of these very fans can completely poison my appreciation for a club. This phenomenon bleeds over into sports announcers who re-enforce the stereotypes for ratings purposes, and even programming schedules are shifted around to accommodate these clowns.

They're a scurge on my enjoyment of the sport in a lot of ways, because they directly impact my ability to access or interact with the sport.

Thank you. These clowns are parasites and if they want to be associated with a club, they will be. That means all Man United supporters are not only idiots, but faggots, including Wayne Rooney and that pointed-nose idiot Berbatov.

I still think back to watching the Spain-Italy elimination match in Euro 2008. I couldn't stop but hear all sorts of in-the-booth masturbation over Fernando Torres -- while he was being owned by Chiellini, and none of the announcers would bother to even try pronouncing Chiellini's name ... let alone mention what he was doing on the pitch.

It was as if they were living in an alternate reality: they had their scripts prepared to worship Torres, and Chiellini was ruining that script, and they were unwilling or unprepared to acknowledge that or change the script.

I had to turn off the sound because it was like they weren't even watching the same match as me. And that directly impacts my ability to enjoy the sport. And why? Because Torres has plenty of ignorant fanboys who watch merely to hear praise heaped upon their replica kit's namesake, and Chiellini did not. It didn't even matter how either player was playing.

Americans, the united states kind, have no teams of their own to support locally, so look abroad-tv obviously gives them their first taste-, so who other than the most successful would they support?

It's a shame that Juve hasn't many of these types of money earners: just goes to show their lack of success, particularly European these last few years.

That was true only when I first started loving the game, before the time of the MLS.

It's a worthy theory. But I'm not so sure it it starts with TV. In some cases, I'm sure it does. But most of the time I'm guessing it starts from learning about the sport and other teams from other fans who make their way across the pond and take their support with them.

Messi - Ibra play was sick.

Damn, they really play something big. People usually bash something they are jealous of.
I am indeed jealous of how they play when they have an 1:0, or even 2:0 lead. They never let the opponents take the initiative, they don't go back giving the possession to the opponents and they don't defend madly, waiting for counters.
I find it unnecessary how they keep pushing with 100% when they have a 3:0 lead and lose energy, or risk injuries, but i know it's attractive and fans like it, so i don't mind it, although if i was their coach i was gonna play it defferently.

But at least they don't play like the Italians, and especially Juve, when they have a 1:0 lead and they don't do what Juve does when we give the initiative even at home and even against some shitty provincial village Italian teams or 10 men Israeli amateurs.

Well written post. I've had the same feeling of hopelessness regarding this matter. These people are everything that's wrong with football of today. :andyandbarcelona:

I agree completely. ESPN's coverage of international tournaments and the C.L. was heavily biased towards popular teams such as Barca, Madrid, Manure, Spain, Brazil and such. You second paragraph is so true
Americans, the united states kind, have no teams of their own to support locally, so look abroad-tv obviously gives them their first taste-, so who other than the most successful would they support?
That is not true. I am not denying that Barca are the best club team right now and Chelsea are close behind them, but my hate for Barca rivals my hate for Inter

Fair point, but I doubt there are too many Chelsea and Mancs that make their way there.

I can see the Spain and Italy link being strong though.

Are their many Celtic fans?

Supposedly, there are.

Whether there actually are, or if Celtic just consider every Catholic on the planet a Celtic fan by default, I don't know.
