I couldn't stop but hear all sorts of in-the-booth masturbation over Fernando Torres -- while he was being owned by Chiellini, and none of the announcers would bother to even try pronouncing Chiellini's name ... let alone mention what he was doing on the pitch.

It was as if they were living in an alternate reality: they had their scripts prepared to worship Torres, and Chiellini was ruining that script, and they were unwilling or unprepared to acknowledge that or change the script.

I had to turn off the sound because it was like they weren't even watching the same match as me. And that directly impacts my ability to enjoy the sport. And why? Because Torres has plenty of ignorant fanboys who watch merely to hear praise heaped upon their replica kit's namesake, and Chiellini did not. It didn't even matter how either player was playing.

It's a worthy theory. But I'm not so sure it it starts with TV. In some cases, I'm sure it does. But most of the time I'm guessing it starts from learning about the sport and other teams from other fans who make their way across the pond and take their support with them.

I am indeed jealous of how they play when they have an 1:0, or even 2:0 lead. They never let the opponents take the initiative, they don't go back giving the possession to the opponents and they don't defend madly, waiting for counters.
I find it unnecessary how they keep pushing with 100% when they have a 3:0 lead and lose energy, or risk injuries, but i know it's attractive and fans like it, so i don't mind it, although if i was their coach i was gonna play it defferently.

But at least they don't play like the Italians, and especially Juve, when they have a 1:0 lead and they don't do what Juve does when we give the initiative even at home and even against some shitty provincial village Italian teams or 10 men Israeli amateurs.

I agree completely. ESPN's coverage of international tournaments and the C.L. was heavily biased towards popular teams such as Barca, Madrid, Manure, Spain, Brazil and such. You second paragraph is so true

That is not true. I am not denying that Barca are the best club team right now and Chelsea are close behind them, but my hate for Barca rivals my hate for Inter
