And Atletico got knocked out by Rubin Kazan last yr in EL with Falcao in the side.
Teams are going to have their fair share of failures before achieving peak success.
I call this progress.

Last year we were in the CL quarter final WITHOUT Tevez and Llorente and many said that had we had better forwards had we gone even further. This year with a way much better forward line we crashed out of the group stage. I call this a step in the wrong direction.

Two years ago Atletico won the EL and last year they crashed early in competition. Progress is not always linear and there are bound to be some misfortunes along the way.

Atletico Madrid are actually,a financially, terribly managed club but thing is some ten other clubs are managed worse than them.
But its good that they'll get a new stadium soon enough tho.For the time being, despite them potentially losing their best players over the summer, they'll continue to maintain top 3 status atleast.

See if this was a recurring theme that is,getting knocked out early in the cl and flopping hard, then i wud agree with u.
But to be fair, its happened for only one season and it seems a massive knee jerk to me.
After seeing atleti and bvb reach cl finals over the past 2seasons,i srsly believe now that anything is possible or achievable. For all we know,we cud reach cl final next season too.

 Exactly this, but you know pessimists don't see it like that.

Yes, that made me chuckle too.
If I were to remember the amount of times I laughed hilariously reading your doomsday predictions...

When Atletico sit back, they actually shut down opponents completely and when they hit on the counter they actually reach the opponent goal in light speed. We do neither of these.

Dortmund don't sit back, conserve energy and study opponents, that's now how they reached the CL fina.

While I agree with you that anything is possible, I know it is not possible with the mentality we enter our CL matches with.

The only difference is that Simeone is in the CL final and Conte drew against FCK.

I guess it is all relative. By last season's lofty standards, this season would be considered a step backwards for a team like Bayern.

Have Juventus made progress this year? On the one hand, one might argue that our failure in the CL can be considered a step in the wrong direction (most definitely from a financial viewpoint); on the other hand, reaching the EL final and winning the tournament constitutes progress and success from a sporting perspective. It depends on how you choose to look at it.

Ask yourself this.Do we have the quality attacking components to hit teams on the break? The answer is no
This is why i dont totally fault Conte for our underwhelming cl season.Juventus needs some flair, pace and creativity to stamp their authority in europe and we are lacking in that department atm
I am still hopeful we'll adress these needs over the summer

I am only looking at our team the previous season and this season. What were we lacking last season? Everyone including you were saying that a proper forward line will make us a lot better. We did not only get one good forward but two. We also saw Pogba in the starting 11 which is a way much better option than Marchisio. We enter the CL matches scared, if you refuse to see that then it's not my problem, we are confused and put the impression that we don't belong there. The squad has improved but yet we did worse. You are now telling me that we need flair and faster players, you are talking about a team overhaul actually, not only fine tuning. Which also contradicts what you have been saying ... this team is not ready yet.

No,not an overhaul actually but a quality attacking player or two wud do,like Sanchez for example.Wudnt u agree that somebody like him wud enhance our attack and our counters in general greatly?
It also dint help that Tevez was an utter scrub in CL.

A player or two would do wonders to this team if and only if we approach the CL games with the right mentality.
