"I was manager for the first time in the 2000 year but, before that, I was assistant in big clubs and with big managers and coaching the best players in the world, so I was 30 and I was coaching Ronaldo, not this one [Cristiano], the real one, the Brazilian Ronaldo," Mourinho told ESPN.

So what happened between him and Ronaldo?
Nothing on the surface, it was kept quiet. Both of them wanted to be the biggest star on the team imo, and both are with huge egos. Maybe on some level Jose feels he failed at Madrid so he tries to diminish the players he had

Neymar is suffering from anaemia.

I'm sure it's nothing Dr. Fuentes can't fix.

Weird. I can't find any reason why they would hit on each-others. Both Portuguese, Ronaldo has given everything one could offer for the team, Mourinho always had great rapport with his players, I find it really weird to know that they didn't get along in the last few months.

If that is true then Mourinho is far dumber than he appears to be.

Besides, didn't he blame it all on Casillas? :D
My point exactly :p

He fell so hard with this Image of himself that he couldn't stand failing, and with such a wc squad no less. All he did those last few months was just trying to save his rep and dump every fault at RM doorstep, the players, the board even the fans at some point

I'm not a fan of Real but the way he acted made me lose alot of respect for the guy. no class at all, he and merda were a match made in heaven

Mourinho said Ronaldo doesnt take criticism well at all and basically doesnt want to be coached, and his right, apparently he got pissed at Mourinho in end of season for suggesting to alter how he approaches some things tactically after he had poor performances (if I recall it was vs Valencia in copa). Seemed to be too much for him to get direction and critique from his own coach. Suddenly he didnt like the same coach who invented a new role for him so that he could be free score endless amounts of goals.

Mourinho wasnt defenitely trying to diminish Ronaldo for failing to win enough at Real, was defenitely one of his favourite ones. But clearly not anymore, since he is taking potshots at Cristiano in his usual way. But mainly what Mourinho doesnt like is Real as an entity, he said: "Madrid is politics. Madrid is not about football, Madrid is not about sport."

Asked what he had made of his former coach's comments, Ronaldo responded: "There are some things in life that don't deserve any mention. This is one of those things and I won't comment on it for obvious reasons. I always respect my coaches and try to learn from them.

As we say in Portugal: 'I don't spit on the plate I eat on.' That's how I feel. I prefer to try and remember the positive side [to Mourinho]."
