Chiellini was shaky enough in most of his appearance, made errors that lead to 2-3 goals and other scenarios that made him seem bit off. Forgot Abate because he didnt play that much, and when he did they barely wanted to use his flank (except 2nd half vs Germany in which he did real well). But Giorgio, big fan, but he was not even close to the better italian performers (clearly rushed), Marchisio clearly had a better euro.

I'm not gonna defend killini :p, just got a little carried away, perhaps De Rossi then?

Don't think anyone in the forward line was good enough. Balotelli was good against Germany and that's it.

Ah fuck, just remembered Chiellini was to blame for Croatia's goal.

Yep, Croatia's goal, Spain's goal in the first groupstage game (ppl blame Giacch, but it was Giorgio who left his zone too eagerly) and ofcourse the finals first goal.

No one in the final was that great, but atleast Cassano and Balo had a better euro then Giorgio, quite clearly. And all midfielders did too, in fact as I said pretty much most who played regurarly except Maggio (total cack) and Giacch (wtf was he doing there). Best players were Pirlo, De Rossi, Buffon, Balotelli, as main 4. Marchisio and Monto fairly good/decent, exchanged games they were quiet to really good. Bonnucci the best defender, and Balzaretti was excellent and showed he should have played more.

I actually don't think Balo was THAT good, he scored a sexy goal from a corner and had a motm performance against Germany but wasn't of notice during the rest of the euros IMO (maybe yea, for missing chances :D)

In the games he was mediocre game he still put in the needed hard work and kept his markers rather physically busy, and the ones he was good in he was efficient, 3 goals in overall and stepping up when it was crucial, obviously a better euro then an out of shape Giorgio that committed errors.

After that Euro, he isn't world class? What else does he have to do?

Sigh... short memory. You've changed your mind on this so many times.

Blame The Others.

First it was Aquilani, then it was Vidal, now Asamoah. You people never learn.

Bookies, make an event about this, please.
:shifty: Vidal is better..

The point Matt is trying to make is that no one has benched Marchisio thus far. Vidal may be better, but they are both in the starting line-up, being deployed in different roles. Aquilani was supposed to bench him according to some, but that never materialized. Now people are saying Asamoah is going to bench Cheesio (having not even seen him play/perform in a Juve jersey), and yet it's unlikely Kojo will, but could be used in rotation, in tandem with Vidal and Marchisio.

There is no doubt that Bonucci was italys best defender under the euros. Even though he was to blame most in the final.

Marchisio world class :lol2:

If world class means top 20 midfielders, yeah he's world class then.

He's a good player, that's all. You overrated him way too much.

Then "world class" has no meanings.

For me, one has to be top 5 in his position, and Marchisio ain't that. Even then, I'd shorten that for several positions as I wouldn't say that there are 5 top quality LBs at the moment, for instance.

Anyway you put it, Marchisio is not world class.

Yeah I just tend to think of it as the very best players at their position regardless of how many there are. Therefore I would say we have 4 WC players in Buffon, Pirlo, Chiellini and Vidal and possibly Barzagli too. Maybe even Licht and others. We'll see how well they do in the CL.

I wouldnt call either Vidal or Marchisio world class atm atleast by my definition of World Class..

They both have to prove it in this year's Champions League against tough teams..CL is the ultimate platform to judge players.
