I've been lucky enough to see Valencia in action about three of four times so far this season and it has to be said that their main problem is inconsistency. They put in an awesome performance to beat Real Madrid at the Bernabeu but drop points against teams that they really should be beating.

Aimar has been very good so far this season. Him and David Villa have been the difference makers in the matches I've seen.

What a fine footballing display from Barcelona in the Superclassico! They completely dominated Real in their own backyard, producing wonderful fantasy football at times. Luxemburgo's men quite simply couldn't come up with an answer for Barca's passing game and were unable to tie down Messi, Ronaldinho and Eto'o with Xavi pulling the strings from a deeper position.

As soon as I saw the Real Madrid starting lineup I thought that Barca would have a field day. The Merengues lacked balance as they started the game with three upfront, a midfielder who does very little on the defensive side of the ball in Zidane, and attacking full backs. It's true that Sergio Ramos struggled but what exactly was he supposed to do? The Real midfielders and Salgado gave the best player on the planet far too much space and Ramos was henceforth victimised by Ronaldinho's electrifying pace, exquisite dribbling ability and deft ball control.

Ronaldinho's first goal was magical but he was allowed for too much space to begin with as Salgado left Sergio Ramos exposed and Helguera wasn't able to cover effectively as he had to pay attention to Eto'o as well.

Barca were excellent, due in part to the fact that Real Madrid were so poor.

I don't understand the big fuss about El Classico this year. It was so evident that Barcelona are superior than Madrid. Personally I like Madrid to lose and keep on losing, but losing to small teams is sweeter than honey.

Real just don't have enough balance. They've got some of the best attacking players in the world but defensively they aren't up to scratch which is why any team with a bit of offensive quality and a decent backline will beat them. I mean, Barca's defence isn't that great, they're hardly a Chelsea or a Juve when it comes to defending, but they have that bit of balance and defensive stability that Real so evidently lack.

Despite Barca not having a perfect start to the season, I have to say their defense has improved since last term. I always thought that their defensive frailty would hold them back in the Champions League, which it eventually did, however this season I notice a little improvement as a cohesive unit. This certainly is a plus for Barca in their quest for the Champions League, because with the talent they have the European Cup is certainly a realistic proposition. It's scary this Juventus might have to meet up against them in the near future...

I certainly concur and there is no doubt Mourinho is the superior manager to Rijkaard. I personally believe the latter lets his side play more than anything else, and when was the last time the Dutchman had to change tactics? He is blessed with the most talented squad in the world and he will just let his side do the talking on the pitch...can't really argue with that. However, just as seen last year, when faced against a tactician who knows how to shut down talented players Rijkaard does not have a plan B, and therefore cannot match the genius of a Mourinho. This will be the downfall of Barcelona...however the question remains whether or not any team in this world can handle the football played by Barca. Sometimes individual talent wins out in the end, and despite your best tactical maneuvers you are still beaten by the more talented side.

That sounds like a page out of Brian Clough's book..

Barcelona this last month have been devasting, but I think most of that seems to be due to Ronaldinho performing at his top-level which I believe is for the first time since the 2003-04 season. Maybe he's warming up for the World Cup?

The other improvement has been defensively over the last month. But to put into context their performance so far this season, out of all the top-sides which ironically are all defending champions - they are the anomoly. Chelsea, Juventus, Bayern and Lyon are all leading emphatically with a major points haul so far. Some even have pretty fierce challengers and are showing their incredibly strength by still remaining ahead. Barcelona on the other hand have no real opposition and only recently appeared at the top of the table. I still feel Real have a stronger squad so La Liga is not a foregone conclusion and Barca will probably win by default more than greatness maybe, which is a shame.

But this does open the doorway to a CL victory, perhaps? I believe a team cannot win their major domestic title and CL in the same year or at the same intensity. Milan of last year are a great example. Barca were the best team in Europe last season - but the best side seldom wins, always a year out of sync often; Milan in 2003 (best in 2004) even Real winning in 2000 and 2002 when they had a better balanced side in 2001 which was the year they captured La Liga instead.

Sure when Barca play that breath-taking football hardly any team compares, but I rate top-to-bottom football coupled with organisation and effectiveness; Bayern a better side this year. Once Juve, Chelsea and even Milan with their relative tactical superiority to Barca the lines become much more blurred.

Lastly, Rijkaard I appreciate his style of modern-management with expression. But some of his decisions do surprise me; signing Van Bommel and using him as alternative to Deco or Xavi and insisting on pole in midfield. Also, his use of Messi is worrying too - ushering him into side in crucial matches because of Guily's poor form could be a mistake. Still think he would be better off the bench and used in easy home matches at Nou Camp instead off big-matches.

But then who cares? When Barca and Ronaldinho play like last night - FOOTBALL is the only winner.
