Manchester United have been rumoured to block Barcelona's attempt to sign PSV Eindhoven star Mark van Bommel as the Red Devils look to shake up the midfield for next season.

Many fans and pundits have doubted the fitness of skipper Roy Keane, who is set to retire from professional football within the next few seasons. The Irishman has changed his mind about his future at Old Trafford many times over the past few seasons and months.

Sir Alex Ferguson's attempts to sign a replacement for Keane have proven unsuccessful. Eric Djemba-Djemba, seen as the next Roy Keane, was offloaded to Aston Villa earlier this term and there have been doubts about Kleberson's and Liam Miller's future as a Red Devil.

Dutch international Van Bommel is available on a free transfer from PSV Eindhoven, and La Liga leaders Barcelona are to sealing a deal, despite the efforts of Tottenham Hotspur.

However, with the disappointment of an early Champions League exit and falling behind in the Premiership, and with a lack of reasources, Van Bommel is a prime summer transfer target.
He sounds interesting... How old is he?

Barça Duo Demand Xavi Stays
4/29/2005 11:01:00 PM
Deco and Ronaldinho have stated that Barcelona cannot afford to allow Xavi to be tempted to leave the club after reports suggest that Chelsea are lining up a bid for him.
The duo are concerned that everything should be done by the Catalan giants to ensure that the midfield playmaker stays.

"I believe that Xavi is happy and settled in his club and in his city, but I think he needs reassurance or to be paid more or something to ensure that he stays here," Deco said.

He is a reference point for Barcelona and he has to stay. If he could earn more away from here, then he should be offered more to stay, that is normal in any job.

Ronaldinho was equally insistent that Xavi has to stay if Barcelona are to progress in the future.

"In no way can he leave. He is the most important player we have and I hope that I can play alongside him for a long time to come," the brazilian said.

Liga outfit Levante have confirmed the dismissal of German manager Bernd Schuster, in the wake of the Spanish side’s home defeat against Malaga.

The Valencia-based club having endured a series of three consecutive defeats in the last three Liga rounds, pressure had been mounting on Schuster, as his side, considered cleared off relegation danger only a month ago, is now in contention with league strugglers Mallorca in what promised to be a difficult season ending.

And Sunday’s narrow home defeat agsint Malaga sealed the tactician’s faith, as Levante quickly confirmed they had decided to part ways with the manager.

Club Reserves manager Jose Luis Oltra will be in charge of the first-team management until the end of the season, the Spanish outfit now likely to land the services of a new tactician in preparation for next season.

A few weeks ago, Spanish media had tipped former PSG, Athletic Bilbao, and Espanyol manager Luis Fernandez to replace Bernd Schuster at the end of the current term.

The 45-year-old German coach had taken the reins of Levante following the side’s promotion to la Liga at the end of last season.

I think it is unfair, that real is allways playing on saturday, and barca on sunnday.. they must play at the same time
so what !!

how many time did barca play before Real ?

it does not matter if you can win just do not look to other results. barca can play before real and can win . so what's ganna heppen ?

3 more points without any attention to real :)

Barcelona have broken with tradition and signed a deal to carry a sponsor on their shirts with the Chinese government to promote the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008.

Camp Nou supremo Joan Laporta travelled to the Chinese captial to thrash out the deal that will see the Catalan side receive at least €19million every year.

The five-year agreement will see the Blaugrana carry the 2008 Olympic Games logo and then switch to promote the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou.

Barcelona have admitted that they have been forced to make the move to stay competitive in the transfer market as well as to fund huge renovation projects at their Camp Nou complex.

Laporta claims that the deal will wipe out all the club's debts and allow Barça to compete on an equal footing with Real Madrid when competing for new players.

According to press reports in Catalunya the shirt will simply carry the word Beijing and the club hope that the fact that the sponsors are not a corporation or a business will win over sceptical fans.

The deal leaves Athletic Bilbao as the only club in Spain to have never carried a shirt sponsor, although the Basque Country club did carry the word Eusakdi on their jerseys to promote the Basque regional government in their Uefa Cup and Copa del Rey games this season.

barca needs 6 points from 12 to be the champions , so they need to win 2 games only or one game with 3 draws regardless of real results
