Who did he insult and whats wrong with the PM egotripper?

Burke, I dont think its that nice to have you back or to even be back. But I realised you are not as annoying as most. I like racists and bigots better than chavs and no lifers. So welcome back and leave me alone this time.
Is that a white Flag? :D

We interrupt this roller derby to bring you the BBC special: "Flags Around the World". Let's join this program in progress...

Claire you need to stop thinking of the mods as cops. They are more like street cleaners (no offence mods :p). Therefore you need to embrace them for doing a good job :D
Personally, Jae, I prefer the term "hall monitors". ;)

Now where's your pass?

I could spend hours looking at various maps of the world. Find it pretty interesting.
The most remarkable ones are the series-maps of around WWI. I remember I had a book of that at primary school, age 7 or so. First you see Europe as it was and then flipping through, it slowly progresses into the war and all the borders and frontiers move. Cities disappear, land is lost to seas and fires.

Just looking at the timeline presented by those maps sent chills down my spine.

I confess... I'm a map geek. :geek: I am a AAA member (which is one better than an AA member?) and I have free maps of pretty much the entire Western world in boxes... just in case I'm called in to lead an expedition or something, of course.

I have a world atlas, but also a world historical atlas... which is pretty fascinating stuff for the reasons Erik mentioned. I'm waiting for them to do 'projection' atlases in the future, where places like the Netherlands disappear under water, Greenland shrinks to a small island of rock, etc. :scared:

Started my membership in Maryland, actually. Just before I drove my 1981 Oldsmobile Coffin Cruiser across the country to Cali to attend UC Berkeley. ;)

Is that when you received your Nebraska(?) speeding ticket that you have failed to pay? ;)

By the way, I thought there weren't any "speed limits" in Nebraska...whats up with that?

Max speed in the US is now 70mph

I think you're thinking of Nevada--many areas had no speed limit--until recently. :)

Are you sure the max speed limit is 70? I could have sworn I thought the number was 75 in the middle of the country.

Oh, and welcome to the forums. Good to have another American here. :)

Damn! You remembered that. I gotta be careful, given the long arm of the law. ;)

Yes, that was the same trip.

There are speed limits in Nebraska. You might be thinking of Montana in the daytime.

But driving through Albequerque, NM once -- talked about messed up. I approached these signs saying, "Caution: Experimental Speed Limit Ahead". So I'm naturally thinking, "WTF is THAT?!"

Then I see a series of digital readouts along the side of the freeway... 64mph .... then 52mph ... then 58mph.

I think the experiment must have been a complete failure, because I never saw them again. If anything, sounded like a confusing way for the highway troopers to pick some easy speeding prey driving through town.
