Siena kicked off their 2012/13 campaign with a goalless stalemate at home to newly promoted Torino. The hosts – who began the new season with a six-point deduction – went closest through D’Agostino’s free-kick which rattled the woodwork midway through the second half.
The home faithful then witnessed a thrilling comeback in Siena’s second game at the Artemio Franchi. It seemed all over for Serse Cosmi’s men when Udinese raced into a two-goal lead after just five minutes played. But Lazzari’s second booking and subsequent dismissal saw the game turn on his head, with Calaio and Ze Eduardo taking full advantage to secure a share of the spoils.
Inspired by a shock 2-0 victory over Inter at the San Siro, Siena then moved off the bottom of the championship courtesy of a narrow home win over Bologna. Calaiò struck his second goal in three games to shatter the Rossoblu's resolve.
Tomorrow’s opponents currently prop up the league standings with Cagliari.
