torres has now not scored in 5 after scoring 27 in the first 16 games :( bloody annoying. he always has loads of "runs past other players" but clearly the AI has figured out my tactic

he just scored two off rebounds in the next game :D
Dude, did you praise him?

Because if you did, don't ever do it until the end of the season because it guarantees a drop in form by a striker.

I have problems braking down teams which are extremely defensive and sit back dealing with my pressure, they sometimes score an odd or lucky goal, but my main problem is scoring against them. I use a bit above normal mentality, a bit creative freedom, passing short with quick tempo. With a bit above nromal width, little time wasting and high D-line. Any tips on how i may be more successful against those defensive bastards? :)

Heres my formation.

If you play a short passing game with a quick tempo it gives away possession of the ball way too easily and allows them to counter attack you.

Also, word to the wise, take away every single line you have up there. If you allow them creative freedom, they will do what they need at a certain time in order to get into position, they don't need you telling them to get forward all the time.

So i should get creative freedom for those who i wish will go forward? wont they just try to dribble or do some magical stuff, i dont want that from full backs, i just want them to provide support.

I figured that i with quick tempo and short passing i should lose possession, but i have 55+ almost in every match, and against defensive opponents even more. Most of my possession is in the middle and final third, and against defensive too, although sometimes its even in the middle and final third. But i will try a more slow build up play now, although my tempo is set just above normal.

Have a game against lecce in a few weeks, will tell how it went with slower tempo.

The creative freedom aspect affects every player, but what it does is allow players to take the style of play into their hands a bit more if your tactics aren't working.

IE - Move to a more defensive nature if they are countering you, or play the ball down the left more if they see a weak spot.

One game against palermo, well the creative freedom gave a positive affect, but will see what happens in a longer spell of games. What is IE?

Hehe, thanks i think i got it :D

tried the slower tempo game, as far as i can tel it worked, 3-0, had more chances then usual, they didnt threaten me at all, I think i will stick with slower tempo against very defensive opponents. Although maybe this is just the more freedom i gave to them kicking in because in other matches they play better then with forward runs, anyway, thanks you helped :)

Yeah i know that. Diego is extra sensitive to tactic changes. It takes a while for him to adapt, but the he becomes a beast :)

By the way maybe you know any good fullbacks. Im in my 3rd season. Dont need very expensive ones and doesnt have to be very young, i just need to change my current ones :) I already made my mind about rb, will try to buy Maggio from Napoli.

I change my tactics every game, depending on the opponent and it works well enough for me.

Btw, Saviola for 5M Euros is a damn bargain, he is sick. And Poli is looking good so far.

Santon is a definite pick up, look at Di Silvestre, Jerome Boateng, and Mattia Cassani.
