Yeah yeah yeah ... you laugh, but for now, we are the only people in the world who have succesfully claimed hundres of square miles from the sea ;)

Won't see the Poles doing that :p

Might I add to that the following: the dunes and damns that have to keep the North Sea outside have a height of 20 meters. When a heavy storm comes in, it pushes the water to the top of these damns and only then can they possibly break. And if they do, the people in this country see a 27 meter (89 ft) high wave rolling at them, travelling with a speed of a stunning 500 km/h.

The last time this happend was in 1953 and I wonder how you would react, Mr tough guy :p

7m is pretty puny for being "under water", that's all :D:p

But that wave sounds like fun, esp for surfers :D

You know I'd like the Poles to build some canals around the country but the idea wasn't well taken sadly.

I live in Canada.
Toronto to be exact....so i'll make it short.

It sucks here.
We have this tall skinny tower, CN Tower, which people make a big deal out of, but trust me its nothing they have a boring revolving restaurant up there and thats it. All we have is an amazing club called the "Guvernment" which the best DJ's in the world come to play in. Thats basically it, we have no soccer here. No history. No amazing beaches, no amazing sightseeing....dont come here!!

I wanna go to Oman, UAE, Germany, Holland, Spain, Portugal and Italy.

Geographical facts

Romania is a country in the Eastern part of Europe.

To the East, it is bordered by the Black Sea. Its neighbors are:
To the South: Bulgaria
To the West: Serbia and Hungary
To the North: Ukraine
To the East: Moldova

Romania spans a total surface of 237,500 square kms. (roughly 91,800 sq.miles). Picture it to be about the size of Oregon.

Our country is blessed with all the major forms of landscape:

The Carpathian Mountains (maximum height 2535 m, 8300 ft) cross the country from the north to the south-west.
To the west of the Carpathians lies a large plateau.
To the East and South there are extended low plains fit for agriculture.
The Danube flows along the southern border with Bulgaria and into the Black sea forming a magnificent delta.

The country is historically composed of three regions:

West of the mountains lies Transylvania
The south plains are called Wallachia
The north-eastern region is called Moldavia.

On December the 1st, 1918, Transylvania united with the other two, forming the state called Romania. Nowadays, to celebrate that moment, December 1st is Romania's national holiday.

Language

The official language is Romanian, a language of Latin origin having much in common with the Italian and Spanish. It uses a latin alphabet. One fact worth mentioning is that Romanian is the only Latin language in Eastern Europe, as the others generally have a Slavonic origin. This is due to the fact that once this teritory was part of the Roman Empire. To find out more, check the history section. Beside Romanian, you can hear Hungarian, German, Serbian and Turkish, spoken by the corresponding minorities of the Romanian people.

Currency

Romanian currency is called "LEU" [leu] (plural "LEI" [lei]). Check the current exchange rate.

The State

Digraph: RO
Romania is a republic and its capital is Bucharest.
The teritory is divided into 40 counties.
Since December 8, 1991 Romania has a new Constitution inspired by the Constitution of France's Fifth Republic.
Suffrage is universal. 18 years of age required.

Executive branch:

Chief of state is the President. Romania's president, Ion Iliescu , is the Democratic Convention leader.
Head of government is the Prime Minister. At the moment Adrian Nastase.
The Cabinet is the Council of Ministers, which is appointed by the prime minister.

Legislative branch:

Bicameral Parliament consisting of Senate and Deputy Chamber.

Judicial branch:

Supreme Court of Justice
Constitutional Court

The Parliament

The Romanian Parliament has two Chambers: The Senate and the Deputy Chamber. There are 341 Deputies and 143 Senators. They are elected by the people every 4 years. The present Parliament was elected in 1996. To find out more, visit The Parliament.

The President

The President is elected by the people every 4 years and can have a maximum of 8 years of service.

The Army

The Romanian Army is composed of: Terestrial Army, Navy, Air and Air Defense Forces, Paramilitary Forces, Civil Defense.
Military service is compulsory for all males at age 20.

The Flag

The Romanian flag consists of three vertical bands (blue, yellow and red).

During the years of communist rule, the flag also had a coat-of-arms. Romanians fighting for democracy in the anti-communist upheaval of 1989 cut it out in a gesture of protest, making the flag with the hole a symbol of the Romanian Revolution.

The Romanians

Historically, the Romanians are descendants of two very old peoples: The Dacians and The Romans. The Dacians were the ancient inhabitants of the land. Due to the legendary richness of this region, Dacia was a great temptation for the Roman Emperors. But Dacia was not easy to conquer, and general after general had to bow in front of the brave natives. Finally, the Emperor Traianus conquered the country in A.D.106. The celebration of the victory lasted 123 days. 7 years later, Traianus erected a monument depicting his victory, which is called Traianus's Column and still stands in Rome. By the mixing of the two peoples, the Romanian people emerged. As a proof of Rome's powerful influence, not only the land was later called Romania, but also, the Romanian language evolved from Latin.

If you want to find out more about Dracula or Transylvania, then this is the place. Yes, Dracula was a real prince. And yes, Transylvania does exist. They are just a part of the rich Romanian history. The following is just a brief outline of the history of the people living between the Carpathian Mountains, the Danube and the Black Sea.

Due to its geographical location, Romania was always the meeting point of political and territorial interests. The Romans, and later the Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian and Russian Empires tried in turn to take over this land. This makes Romanian History particularly interesting, as the local people always stood up against foreign occupation, managing to preserve its culture and traditions.

A picture from the Black Sea :)

When most people think of Egypt, they think of antiquities, but Egypt offers much more. Certainly it is a prime location to see our great heritage from the ancient world, including Pyramids and wonderful temples, but it is also part of the Holy Land, and tours to Christian and other religious monuments are popular. Yet Egypt offers many adventure tours as well, including nature and desert treks, great scuba diving and even golf, fishing and birding expeditions. Alternatively, one may choose to simply relax on Egypt's wondrous Red Sea or Sinai coasts, or take in the high culture of Cairo, including grand operas, fine restaurants and its exciting night life. One may even leisurely float down the Egyptian Nile on a luxurious river boat, or mix and match these vacations, including excursions into deeper Africa or places such as Petra, Jordan.

Really?! Wow....all i could say is: Why the hell would you wanna go there :D

Riyadh is th emost modern city, but i do admit that Dubai is more modern. it's also better because it's a costal city.

I've seen Burj Al-Arab, but i've never been in it. I've stayed at the Jumairah beach hotel which is right next to it (i think they're both owned by the same organization). It was Awesome :thumb:
