I'm thinking that maybe Chiellini (or otherwise Balza) should've played in midfield to maintain some more balance in midfield. Chiellini played very well in that role for Fiorentina, got rather reknown for his offensive game opposed to his defensive game.

i can see his point ... but isn't it his job to keep them focus
these kind of issues will always occur if you want a young team.
they must realize that we are still half way through the league. Also, they should target the championship not only the qualification.

watch arsenal and learn ... last year they thought that they are better than life ... but because most of the team is immature they finish 6th ... on the other hand they felt unfavored in all CL matches which encouraged them to focus and they reached the final

about the defense i believe the problem is that we don't have a player who lead the defense and organize it we had two last season ( thuram and canna)
at least one is needed IMO
