Indeed, he is a quality...But I just think that he wants to move to a bigger club...It's obvious...

Anyhow, I'm actually happy that he's not playing tomorrow.

Udinese freeze out Iaquinta!
Tuesday 20 September, 2005
Udinese have sent shockwaves around Serie A by confirming that Vincenzo Iaquinta has been frozen out of the squad for refusing to sign a contract extension.

“With great personal regret I realised today that Iaquinta is the only one of our lads who doesn’t see himself as part of the Udinese project aimed at achieving certain goals,” explained director general Pietro Leonardi in a statement on the official club website this evening.

“All of the other players in the squad proved their deep faith in the essence of Udinese by each renewing their contracts without exception. Iaquinta has today placed himself outside of the project.”

Iaquinta was not part of the squad set to face Juventus on Wednesday evening and, at first, it had been reported that he was suffering from flu symptoms.

However, the shock truth emerged and Udinese have chosen to freeze out the man who scored a hat-trick in their Champions League debut against Panathinaikos.

“In the hope that he can take a more reasonable attitude, for the good of the squad we will in the meantime leave space to those who believe in the objectives of the group.”

Capello calls for Juve focus Tuesday 20 September, 2005

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fabio Capello has warned his Juventus side that they will have to be at their best to win at Udinese on Wednesday.

The Stadio Friuli outfit, despite their 4-2 loss at Fiorentina on Sunday, have been a revelation so far this term and Capello is wary of the threat.

"There is presently great euphoria in Udine, they feel strong and are convinced of their own ability," stated the tactician.

"They are right to have such emotions because Udinese are a good squad and we must play with the greatest amount of attention.

"It will be tough against Udinese because they are a well organised side, dangerous in attack where they have fast and quality individuals. They have a very strong midfield too.

"They also have some good youngsters like Vincenzo Iaquinta, a player who I wanted when I was at Roma."

The reigning champions have had a relatively easy run of things in Serie A so far this term, but Udinese should provide them with their first real test of the campaign.

"In reality, all games are exams for us," added the tactician.

"The fact that we are the only team with maximum points after just three games shows how difficult this championship is for everyone, especially at this point of the season.

"Although the big three – Juventus, Milan and Inter – have strengthened, the others did too in the summer.

"Palermo, Udinese, Sampdoria, Fiorentina and Roma are realities of the game now. It will be hard for us to ‘run’ as we did last season."

Nevertheless, Capello is optimistic about his club’s chances of success during the 2005-06 campaign.

"We were strong last year and we knew it, but we are now even more convinced of our strength," he argued.

"Everyone here occupies an important role in the side and everyone is working hard to carry the water to the same mill. That is what allows us to target certain objectives."

It’s unclear at this stage what sort of line-up Juve will start with, but there are whispers which suggest Alex Del Piero could be relegated to the bench despite his brace against Ascoli.

Championship’s fourth round, scheduled for Wednesday September 21st, will be played at Friuli Stadium of Udine. Juventus’ away match is against Udinese of new coach Serse Cosmi, which needs to redeem Sunday’s fault in Florence. Friulians, on the rise of a brilliant past season, where they conquered championship’s fourth place and achieved, for the first time in history, access to Champions League, confirmed their potential, so much in Europe as in the Italian championship.

And yet there were plenty of changes: further to coach’s box turnover, with ex-Genoa’s manager replacing Luciano Spalletti, there are no longer midfielders Pizarro and Jankulovski, key players in the past years. In their place have arrived quantity and quality assets like Obodo from Fiorentina and Vidigal from Livorno. Other novelties include Candela for the defence, Rossini and emergent forward Barreto. Team’s guiding lights remain Di Michele and most of all Iaquinta, whose downpouring goals set him aside an important place in Marcello Lippi’s National Team. Juventus showed winning confidence so far, pairing results with overwhelming play and opposed to Udinese will face a significant benchmark, for what will be the most challenging game of this early season.

"Meeting Empoli, Brugge and Ascoli must not make any difference to us. Our main target is Champions League but we must not forget the home championship. Winning the Scudetto is no ordinary thing but to achieve that we have to beat smaller clubs too."

Emerson keeps the pressure high: after the fantastic match at Bruges, the Bianconeri want to repeat themselves in the championship against Ascoli as well, not only keeping on winning but also giving a spectacular show: "We're playing well and this makes us self confident about our potential and gives us more personality. We have a winning attitude, as always, but this year we're suffering our opponents less than in the past. Is it thanks to Vieira's arrival? It certainly is. The partnership with him is improving match after match. The attack is in a great shape too but it is the whole team's merit."

Talking about attack, El Puma does not want to miss the occasion to congratulate Trezeguet on his 100 goals in the black&white outfit: "Heart-felt congratulations! Achieving such goals is not for everybody. We have not celebrated the event actually but we cannot but congratulate him!".

Back to the championship, at moment Juventus seem to have something more than their direct competitors; however, Emerson calms enthusiasm down:"As I said, we're playing well and I'm happy about it but I don't think that Inter and Milan are having problems; in my opinion, they're in a good shape and they're strong too. It's a long way and we might meet clubs who play well at home and can be dangerous, thus we'll have to be careful and concentrated in order not to slip".

We still need to play Ascoli 1 more time? :dazed:

It will be in Udinese's and Iaquinta's best interest to work out a deal and come to terms with each other as soon as possible. This will be a crucial season for Iaquinta as he stands a chance of making Lippi's squad for Germany in the summer and has started the season off very well...it would be stupid for both parties not to reconcile immediatly.
